Last week Natalie Paull managed to fill a room with her Sweet Heart cookbook and her equally sweet nature to entertain a crowd of budding (or experienced) bakers!

It was such a treat (pun intended!) to hear the love and passion Natalie has for baking and to see how adored she is by her fans. Natalie was joined by Sara Kittelty who had baked some delicious recipes from Sweet Heart for everyone to enjoy. There certainly weren’t any leftovers at the end of the night!

Thank you so much Natalie and Murdoch Books for coming to Ballarat as part of your tour. We have signed copies of Sweet Heart available in store or online.

Last night we were so overjoyed to be awarded the 2026 Federation University Commerce Ballarat 3BA Retail Business Award!
 
Thanks to Commerce Ballarat for creating a night that is dedicated to celebrating everything Ballarat has to offer in the business community.  To be recognised was a huge honour, especially alongside our fellow retail finalists and the other award winners and nominees on the night.

To our staff, who were at the award ceremony and those who were working at our Myf Warhurst event, we thank you for your continual hard work, dedication and commitment to a high standard of customer service.

We also thank our family for their continued support - our four children have all worked with us and have a vested interest in our endeavours.

We started our bookshop journey in 2008, with the aim always to create a destination bookstore for Ballarat. This dream came true when our current site- the Old Colonists, became available, and we opened our doors in 2018, in an Australian premier heritage streetscape.

Our journey has been extremely rewarding and our aim is to promote a love of reading in our community – to be recognised like this means so much to us and our business.
