seeing Dr. Seuss in real life always feels wrong for some reason 😭
like you grow up thinking the dude behind all those wild, bendy, chaotic creatures must look like he just walked out of one of his own books… tall hat, swirly mustache, probably floating slightly above the ground.
and then it’s just… a regular guy. button-up shirt. calm expression. looking like he just finished balancing a checkbook instead of inventing a creature named something like a “Flibberflap Snorf.”
but that’s what makes it crazier—this completely normal-looking man is sitting there casually creating the most unhinged, imaginative little characters ever. like his brain is operating on a completely different frequency than his appearance suggests.
it’s almost disappointing and impressive at the same time. like you expect chaos… but the chaos was all internal.
lowkey makes it even cooler though. proves you don’t have to look like a creative genius to be one… you can just be sitting there quietly inventing entire worlds in your head.
