JULY BIRTHSTONE: RUBY
Rubies are amongst the most sought after gemstones. Their deep red colour, often tinged with purple, reflects lifegiving blood and passion. These precious gems have been used to adorn nobility of many ethnicities for the last millennium. Their metaphysical properties include bestowal of health, wealth, wisdom and success in love.
The hardness of ruby makes it ideal for use in all forms of jewellery. Indeed, rubies are also used in fine machinery and medical equipment.
In addition to being July’s birthstone, rubies are the gems of the 40th Wedding Anniversary.
Along with emerald and sapphire, rubies are one of the ‘big three’ gemstones globally. Sought after for their beauty and rarity – they have been centre stage of jewellery design for the last century.
Whether you favour rings, bracelets, necklaces or earrings, if July is your birth month make sure to include a signature ruby piece in your collection.
