It's hard to believe that it has been 12months since the Murray Goulburn and Fonterra price drops which stunned the nation.
At that time Woolworths branded milk market share dropped from 66% down to 51%....and now it has risen back to 60%.
Berry Rural Co-operative has been given a lot of suppport & it is at times lovely to hear from our customers, such as Phee on 97.3 ABC Illawarra yesterday about how wonderful our milk is and how refreshing it is to support a local processor.
Within this article, Mr Godfrey, suggest that consumers
- buy milk made at a dairy that processes its own milk ✔
- bypass the middleman, meaning a greater share for the producers ✔
- buy products made by a small-scale farmer-controlled co-operative ✔
- don't stop buying dairy products as every little bit counts
That's a lot of ✔ for Berry Rural Co-operative & South Coast Dairy.
We are hoping with the construction of our own processing facility in mid 2016 in Berry, New South Wales, and with our recent Sydney Royal Dairy Awards, winning 5 gold for our milk products, we are on the right track for securing a bright future for not only our co-operative, but also that of our producers.
So thank you for helping our co-operative support our producers and lets hope we can gain a bit more of that market share
Dairy farmers say they'll be dealing with last year's severe milk price cuts for years to come.
