A quick look behind the scenes of constructing my Major Practical Work ✨

This is a look around the major corporate work exhibition created by Tafe Cert IV Floristry students.

For this assessment we were given the brief of designing two floral pieces for the opening night of an artist's exhibition. Each student created a hand-tied arrangement and a base medium arrangement.

Designs were developed to complement selected artwork through the use of colour harmony, design style and advanced floristry techniques explored throughout the year.

One of the most interesting aspects of the exhibition is seeing how differently each student responded to the same design challenge. Through their choice of flowers, colour palettes, materials, form, and technique, every display offers a unique creative perspective.

This week in floristry class, I created this formal linear arrangement.

This style of design challenged me to focus on line, balance and proportion, with each stem carefully placed to create movement and visual interest. The use of negative space means every element has a purpose, making it a great exercise in restraint and precision.

I enjoyed working with the different textures and forms to create a contemporary design that highlights the beauty of each individual material.
