We’ve been busy getting ready for the Caboolture Gemfest this coming Saturday (1st August ) from 8am at the Caboolture Showgrounds.
For this show we are doing something completely different to our usual offering. Many of you will remember the late John Steenbergen who ran Cooloola Rocks and Minerals and the enormously popular Kybong Rockfest.
We’ve been working with John’s daughters to bring the contents of the shop and John’s personal collection to market after the sale of the property.
Those who visited the shop over the years will be aware of the fantastic variety that was present, and may have been treated to a viewing of John’s extensive collection.
Whilst there are all of the usual polished treats you’d expect to find in a shop like this there is an incredible collection of rocks and minerals from both Australia and overseas.
John’s personal collection was accumulated over more than 50 years and is a snapshot of the history of fossicking around Queensland and interstate, together with some great overseas pieces. Whether you are chasing a South Australian Gypsum or a polished piece of petrified wood from Chinchilla you’ll find it here.
This is a genuine clearance sale, with stock being heavily discounted from previous pricing. Whether you are after one piece or 100 this is an event not to be missed. The pictures below show a glimpse of what we will have.
We are trading outside the hall at this great show. Make a day of it at the Caboolture Gemfest where there will be some great food stalls, a fantastic seller of tools and equipment, opals, fossils, crystals and minerals and of course the opportunity to buy part of this great collection.
