Back in the 80's Star Wars went away - and no one knew if it would ever come back. Before the prequels burst onto the scene fans were lapped up new media - Shadows of the Empire, Heir to the Empire and Dark Horse Comics gave us Crimson Empire. (There were a lot of Empires!). Dark Horse comics filled a void of continuing Star Wars stories with a unique visual flair that makes them a favourite of collectors that grew up though this era. Stunning covers and art, great stories and new characters made them a perfect way to expand the Star Wars universe. We've had a small collection of about 40 comics from this era that will be in the shop tomorrow!

Long post about Shop Event/Toy Fair/Siren of Audio Convention

What a huge couple of days it's going to be for collectors and Doctor Who fans in Melbourne this weekend!

To kick things off we have our Doctor Who signing tomorrow - Frazer Hines will be in the shop between 1pm and 2pm meeting fans and signing autographs - always a huge event, and a fun day! I brought a carload of Doctor Who merchandise back from Sydney earlier in the week, and have been working around the clock to clean, price and sort it to be ready for the weekend. We've also been pulling out all stops to have as much of the upstairs area open that we can for the weekend, and I think we will have 4 rooms open for the first time, so plenty of new stuff to see.

On Sunday we have the Monster Vintage and Modern Toy Fair happening, I know a lot of collectors will be attending that! Rod, one of my weekend staff will be having a table, so go and find him and buy stuff and also some of our customers are setting up tables and selling as well - good luck to all of them, especially Dan who always overwhelms us with good vibes whenever he visits. Here is a link if you are looking to buy tickets to the toy fair.

But if collecting isn't your think - The Sirens of Audio have their Sunday Frazer Hines event, a must go to final appearance of Frazer Hines in Australia. Frazer was a companion of the Second Doctor and also has returned to the show many times in the classic and modern eras. He is also the inspiration for the Outlander franchise and has a career that spans just about everything you can imagine! The Sirens of Audio events are about the best experience you are ever going to have attending a fan convention, so click the link through to their site and check out ticket options.
