Domaine Wine Shippers (D.W.S.) was started in 1977 by Gary and Yvonne Steel. Today D.W.S. represents over 25 Australian Vineyards and many wines from France.

In these early years of inception,the company, based out of Victoria, was known as the Importer of Champagne BILLECART-SALMON and of other premium quality French wine; primarily from the great Domaine’s of Burgundy. During these years Gary was also an Airline Captain with Ansett until 1989, when the Pilot’s Dispute ended his successful 18 year career. Declining offers to fly out of Singapore or Dubai for the sake of keeping the three children in schooling in Australia, Gary decided with the total support of Yvonne and the family, to relinquish flying and concentrate on D.W.S. This career refocus required reassessing the business as a whole and coming to the realisation that the company needed to broaden the portfolio to include the highest quality Australian Wines to help make it a viable and reputable company within the wine wholesaling educated trade. We are responsible for distributing Champagne BILLECART- SALMON as well as being the sole Australian Importer of Domaine’s from Burgundy; such as Domaine de VOGUE, Domaine Armand ROUSSEAU, Domaine RAVENEAU, Domaine BLAIN-GAGNARD and Domaine BOUCHARD Pere et Fils.

Elegance, Heritage, and the Art of the Assemblage. 🥂⚓

A wonderful afternoon at the Inaugural Classic Yacht Regatta at the Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club, where the timeless lines of Sydney’s classic fleet met the finesse of Champagne Billecart-Salmon.

There’s a natural synergy between the craftsmanship of a vintage yacht and the meticulous art of Champagne production. As the fleet took to the harbour at Point Piper, guests enjoyed an afternoon of “Billecart Moments,” with Champagne Billecart-Salmon Le Réserve and Le Rosé being poured.

A huge thank you to Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club for hosting such a spectacular debut event. We couldn’t have asked for a better setting to showcase the elegance of Champagne

The tragedy that occurred on Sunday, 14th December in Bondi, NSW, has sent shock waves through our communities in Australia.

This is not the Australian way. We stand for unity, love, freedom and open mindedness.

There is no room in Australia, or anywhere, for hatred, Islamophobic and racist-motivated action.

We as a work family, Domaine Wine Shippers, stand with and send love to all, and especially today to the injured, the victims’ families and the heroes in Bondi yesterday.

Grenache (also known as Garnacha) is one of the world’s most versatile grapes, producing flavourful, fleshy, juicy red wines and deep, ruby-tinted rosé.

Whether it’s a complex Châteauneuf-du-Pape blend or a pure single varietal, this grape has a story to tell. While Spain is its original home, the French have long championed it in the Southern Rhône Valley.

Closer to home, you’ll find outstanding Grenache in McLaren Vale, the Barossa, and Heathcote.

Today’s the perfect excuse to pour a glass and celebrate this vibrant variety. Cheers to International Grenache Day! 🥂
