Ever since the Royal Australian Mint released its first annual baby uncirculated set in 1993 these adorable releases have included themes like classic Australian children’s stories and adorable baby animals.

The 2023 Uncirculated Baby Coin Set brings together all the fun and friendly baby coins created for the 2021 and 2022 sets into one joyous celebration of all things baby.

Everyone is having fun as Australia’s iconic circulating coins are reimagined in an adorable baby theme.

The bright eyed and giggling baby is surrounded by a gang of mates including the wooden echidna, the winky-wonky lyrebird, the wet windup platypus and the cute and cuddly plush emu and roo.

About the 2023 Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse.

In early 2023, coin collectors will see a period of transition, with coins released featuring either the 2023 Jody Clark Commonwealth Effigy or the 2023 Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse.

To aid collectors, the obverse featured on each release will be included in release posts on the Mint’s Facebook, website and newsletter.

A century ago, artist and illustrator Jimmy Bancks introduced Australia to an enduring character – Ginger Meggs, the larrikin schoolboy with the shock of red hair.

Created by illustrator Jimmy Bancks in 1921, Ginger Meggs has featured in newspaper comic strips in Australia and around the world ever since. Ginger Meggs is now produced by cartoonist Jason Chatfield.

In 1921, Sydney artist Jimmy Bancks created a comic strip called Us Fellers, which first appeared in the comic section of the Sunday Sun newspaper, featuring a red-headed boy wearing a black waistcoat named Ginger Smith.

He soon became Ginger Meggs, an enduring Aussie character, part battler, part larrikin and part philosopher, who with his mates Ocker and Benny and girlfriend Minnie Peters, continues to amuse readers to this day.

Ginger Meggs and his gang experienced the highs and lows of Australia – sporting success, the depression, the Second World War and most recently, the Coronavirus, all with irreverent good humour.

Following Jimmy Bancks’ death in 1952, Ginger Meggs has been produced by a succession of talented illustrators -
Ron Vivian (1953-1973), Lloyd Piper (1973-1982), James Kemsley (1983-2007) and by Jason Chatfield since 2007.

Ginger Meggs is Australia’s most successful comic strip, appearing in newspapers around the world.

There has even been a movie and a stage musical, books, and songs such as Just a Little Ginger Headed Feller from 1938.

The Royal Australian Air Force will clock up its 100th year on March 31, 2021.

This collection traces the evolution of technological advances in air power - beginning with one of the most famous allied fighters of the
First World War the S.E.5a in which Australian Flying Corps pilots flew in operations over the Western Front.

By the 1940s Australia had graduated to the long-range Catalina flying boats, heavy bombing Lancasters and Kittyhawk fighters which dominated battles in the Pacific.

The Iroquois ‘Huey’ helicopters came into their own during the Vietnam War. In more recent times the F-111s have been Australian crowd favourites, serving the air force for 37 years including overflights during the East Timor crisis in 1999.

The reliable Hercules tactical air-lifters have been a mainstay of the air force since the 1950s, conducting domestic and international operations including evacuating people during the 2011 Queensland floods.

The Hornet fighters saw action in the Middle East while the F-35 Joint Strike Fighters are being welcomed into the fold.
