The Japanese concept of 間 ma reminds us that the space we leave empty is just as important as what we choose to fill it with.

Whether it’s a pause in conversation, the negative space in a room, or a moment in your day or calendar that remains unfilled; it gives things room to breathe. It’s a concept that applies to a lot of Japanese design, architecture, daily life, and rituals, including the tea ceremony.

It’s something we think about often, and how we create a little more space in our lives.

Our new Single-Cultivar Organic Gokou captures the essence of a bold, full-bodied matcha. It’s very lightly and gently roasted to bring out its most delicate traits: subtly sweet, creamy, and full of umami🌟

But why single-cultivar?
Most matcha on the market are blends of multiple cultivars, combined to create a uniform flavour year after year. While there’s nothing wrong with a good blend, we chose a single cultivar instead.
Made entirely from one varietal, it allows you to taste the true character of the specific tea leaf, shaped by its specific soil, season, and climate that it’s grown in. A single-cultivar matcha is a pure, untouched reflection of exactly where and how it was grown.

It’s finally here, our new harvest 💚 Our beloved Okumidori is back - smooth and buttery, full-bodied with a subtle floral finish.

And now, joining the line-up is our latest release: the Organic Gokou matcha, a rare, single cultivar matcha sourced exclusively from Ujitawara, Kyoto; renowned for being the historic birthplace of modern Japanese green tea. It’s delicate, bright, creamy with a gentle sweetness. We’re in love with the vibrant colour, if we do say so ourselves. As usual, we only source in small batches, both cultivars are now available in our signature 30g canisters 🍵🍃
