A new chapter is underway for the Windy Corner Nordic & Backcountry Centre at Falls Creek, as Everest Sports steps in to continue and grow the legacy of one of the region’s most beloved alpine destinations.
Everest Sports, based in Bright, has built a strong reputation as a trusted outdoor retailer known for high-quality gear, knowledgeable staff, and deep connections within the local community. Catering to skiers, hikers, climbers, and adventurers of all levels, Everest Sports is committed to helping people experience the outdoors with confidence and enthusiasm.
Long regarded as a hub for snow enthusiasts, Windy Corner will continue to operate with the same strong commitment to nordic skiing, backcountry touring, and snow play. The transition ensures that visitors can rely on the experiences they know and love, while also looking ahead to thoughtful enhancements.
Everest Sports brings a deep passion for the outdoors and a clear vision: to honour Windy Corner’s history while elevating the overall customer experience through carefully curated products, attentive service, and expanded community engagement. The intention is not to change what makes Windy Corner special, but to build on its strong foundation—supporting the local outdoor community and investing in backcountry touring, freeride, and nordic skiing.

Our shop will offer a full range of premium gear, including skis, boots, poles, apparel, and accessories, alongside a comprehensive hire service to make the experience easy and accessible for everyone whether you are trying cross country skiing for the first time or training at a competitive level.
In the short term, customers can expect familiar offerings to remain in place, including the café, day lodge, nordic rentals, and toboggan hire. Over time, visitors will see a considered rollout of improvements, such as expanded backcountry gear and demo opportunities, along with new events and partnerships designed to reflect the evolving needs of the outdoor community.
Everest Sports invites locals and visitors alike to come and experience the new store, gear up, and hit the trails this season.
