Created by proud Goreng Goreng artist Rachael Sarra, Guidance from the Stars transforms our ceiling space into a vibrant constellation of cultural wisdom, celebrating the sophisticated astronomical knowledge that has guided First Nations peoples for generations.

Through bold colour and dynamic forms, Rachael weaves traditional knowledge with contemporary expression, inviting us to see the world through perspectives shaped by tens of thousands of years of cultural knowledge, connection and continuity.

As we celebrate NAIDOC Week 2026 and 50 Years of Deadly, this powerful artwork reminds us that First Nations cultures remain the world’s oldest continuing living cultures, carrying knowledge systems that continue to guide and inspire today.

We were honoured to begin NAIDOC Week with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony led by Traditional Owner and Elder, Uncle Tommy.

Accompanied by a soundscape by Awesome Black, the ceremony invited us to pause, listen and reflect on the enduring connection between Country, culture and community.

We thank Uncle Tommy for sharing this important cultural practice and all who joined us in marking the beginning of NAIDOC Week.
