AN AFFAIR IN MUNTHILL by Takerra Allen

One of my top reads of 2026 and without a doubt, a book that will stay with me.

This book honestly snuck up on me. It wasn't a story that immediately gave me everything. Instead, it slowly unraveled, layer by layer, taking me through twists, turns and moments I didn't see coming.

And then there was Mavi. 😮‍💨
Mavi “Power” Magana is EVERYTHING. His intentionality, the way he shows up for Gaby, the respect he gives her and the way he makes her feel seen completely stole my heart.

But Gaby's journey is just as powerful. Watching this strong Black woman navigate everything life throws at her and slowly realise she deserves to be loved, chosen and cherished was incredibly moving.

There were moments that made me swoon, moments that brought me to tears, and moments that I know I'll think about for a long time.

Some books you finish and move on from.

This is not one of those books.

An Affair in Munthill snuck up on me, completely stole my heart, and has firmly earned its place among my favourite reads of 2026. 🖤📚

The weekends are for reading. 🤎📚

And this photo? Taken by my eldest, Aaliyah. 🥹 She’s developed a new love for photography and taking selfies 🤣 so I figured I’d let her put her skills to work and take a photo of Mum for Instagram.

Something a little more personal… after losing a significant amount of weight, I still don’t always recognise myself. Especially in photos. It’s strange because I know it’s me, I can see the changes, but sometimes it just doesn’t feel like me.

I’m still learning to see myself the way other people do, and I think that’s something I’ll be working on for a while. ❤️

But for today, I’m just going to be grateful for the little things — a quiet weekend, a good book, and a daughter who thinks Mum is worthy of a photoshoot. 😂📖

Now… back to reading. ✨

Finally, the weekend! 🥳

It’s been a BUSY week over here — painting books for Witchwoods Volume 1, proofing and finalising files for upcoming boxes — so I am more than ready for some downtime! 😮‍💨📚

I did manage to sneak in a few great books this week, including Trappin’ Through the Snow by Briann Danae and The Garden of Eden by Millie Belizaire. ❤️

But this weekend I’ve locked in Cappadonna by Jahquel J and At the End of It All by Rae Lyse.

Now I just need to actually sit my ass down and READ. 😂

✨ THE GARDEN OF EDEN — MILLIE BELIZAIRE ✨

There are books you read… and then there are books you SEE, FEEL and completely disappear into. This was absolutely one of those books for me. 😭💛

New Orleans already holds such a special place in my heart. I was 21 when I travelled there by myself, and I remember getting completely lost in the city—literally and figuratively. 😂 The streets, the energy, the history, the feeling of it… there’s just something about New Orleans that stays with you. So getting to experience it again through Millie’s words? YES. GIVE ME ALL OF IT.

Millie’s prose is so vivid I could see this story unfolding around me. Every character carried their own struggles, their own desperation, their own journey, and I loved watching those paths slowly collide and intertwine. It’s emotional, layered and powerful, but it’s also filled with so much humanity.

And then there’s Drew’s monochromatic mind… 👀

So naturally I had to think about what colour I would be.

💛 YELLOW. Always yellow.

I’ve been drawn to yellow for as long as I can remember. It feels like sunshine, warmth and energy. And apparently a yellow aura represents intellect, optimism, high energy and joy—a bright, curious mind, confidence and a personality that naturally lifts the mood around them.

Honestly? I’ll take that. 😂💛

So now I NEED to know…

Custom Colour One for Volume One of the Witchwoods ✨

This is a custom-mixed Viridian teal with high-reflective metallic running through it, and it looks SO damn cool. 😎💚

And because this colour is custom mixed, no two books will ever be exactly the same. Every single one will have its own unique finish and variation. ✨

Nic knows his colours. 😂

Happy Monday & Happy Book Lovers Day, peeps! 📚💜

I’m currently reading In the Garden of Eden by Millie Belizaire, and I’m just going to keep professing my love for Millie’s work because… this woman DOES NOT miss. 😭

Every single book I read, she pulls me in straight away. The richness of her characters, the emotive language, the depth of feeling… she doesn’t just tell you a story, she guides you straight into their world and then leaves you there.

And honestly? I don’t want to leave. 🥹

I’m only partway through and already completely invested. Millie, what are you doing to me?! 😂💜

A little behind-the-scenes moment today… 💜

I said I’d keep sharing updates as we move through the production process, and my printer sent me these yesterday!

There is something so satisfying about seeing A Worthy Love come to life. Watching the pages go from an idea on a screen to an actual printed book never gets old. 🥹📚

The covers have now been sent off to the foilers to be stamped next! ✨

Once the covers are finished, it’s time for the binders… and then we’re one step closer to these beauties being in your hands.

I absolutely love taking you along for the process, so expect plenty more behind-the-scenes updates as we keep moving forward. 🤍
