Ula Lole / Lolly leis are the O.G. but to save yourself from finger cramps. Try snack lolly sashes.

All you need is;

- Wide cellotape / packing tape
- Snack size packet lollies
I went with Skittles and M&M, due to Queensland summer, they can survive the hot weather during grad ceremonies.

What you do is;

1. Lay out the length you want, sticky part facing up.

2. Leave about 2cms at the end of the tape, to flip up and close onto the first end packet.

3. Lay the snack lolly packets flat against the sticky part of the cellotape. Make sure they are completely flat. And keep repeating.

4. Make sure to leave enough in the middle section, where the graduates neck would be. Cut some extra cellotape of the same size, and place the sticky sides together. If it overlaps onto the last snack size lolly packets on each side, it's fine. It helps keep them secure. Sealing the middle part is so it doesn't stick to the graduates neck.

And finish, voila...I can't remember where I saw this, but gosh it saved my fingers last year. They are a cool addition to the normal Ula Lole/Lolly leis.

Sadly, my brand is being dragged on social media, made fun of, insulted and called names.

For context, I informed the person that I had been contacted by a customer asking if a Facebook marketplace listing was mine because the wedding badge was similar to my originals. They were not my badges or my listing, but this similarity caused confusion for the customer since they couldn't differentiate between the two.

These badges are my original designs and ideas!

1. I used my own brain to think up, envision how I wanted them to look, placement and every detail included. No AI used here, or anyone else's work.

2. I researched before using my very first design at the end of 2022, to make sure I wasn't legally infringing on any current & similar ideas.

3. I was the only one attaching graduation and wedding badges to my leis in Australia, when I started back in 2023.

4. I am not bothered or intimidated by any other creator making their own version of badges. I have always encouraged original ideas and authenticity. As long as they are legally not the same as mine, or any one else's for that matter. The law protects everyone's original ideas/creations.

If coca cola and pepsi can't copy each other, neither can big or small businesses. The law covers everyone.

I have not named names, because I don't need to drag another woman in public. I came to you in good faith, respectfully informing you that your listing breaches these laws because they look too similar. But you have taken this too far.

I will not carry on, because you are not even a registered business with ASIC, and you don't have an ABN.

This is the last time I will reiterate. I am not bothered by other Lei makers making their OWN version of badges, as long as they are legally not infringing on mine or anyone else's original designs/creations. But I will protect what I originally thought up, designed and created.

As I've always said "Keep it authentic, and uniquely yours, so customers can differentiate between brands/businesses."

Informative reminder for customers.

Respectfully I've declined and redirected customers back to the original makers, and I will continue to do so.

I know enough in the community, to know whose photo it is. Also a quick google photo search will help narrow this down, if I haven't come across the maker.

So please customers don't take offence.

Lets continue to keep this Lei/Ula community Authentic and Original.
