How long does it take to launch a new product? 🤔

It took us almost two months to develop an Eco Dog Ball of the desired firmness, density and quality. We then commenced in-house testing on the plain balls, lasting another 1-2 months.

Once we were satisfied with the product, we progressed into the design stage. An initial prototype is usually completed within a month, followed by at least two to three rounds of review (and sometimes more) and refinement before the final product is born.

Being a handmade product, our skilled craftswomen took another month to prepare for the first batch. We are always super excited to see our new products land in Sydney.

Product design is an ongoing process that continues as long as the product’s in use. We will continue to collect feedback from our customer and improve the product.

The idea that cats don’t need a lot of physical activity is a common misconception.

Cats differ from dogs in many ways, but one thing they have in common is a need for regular exercise. Although our kitties can sometimes appear lazy, and may seem more content to curl up on the sofa than run around and play, they need daily physical activity in order to stay fit and well, and to prevent unhealthy weight gain. This is especially true for indoor cats, who often become couch potatoes.

Most experts agree that cats need about 30 minutes of exercise a day. Making exercise fun helps encourage physical activity; and since play and exercise are usually intertwined when it comes to cats, it’s easier than you might think to ensure your feline friend is getting his daily workout. Not surprisingly, toys play a big part in engaging your cat in interactive exercise.

Cat ball toys are great for a feline workout. Bubbles the Pufferfish has a jingly bell to keep your pet engaged. Handmade of wool, you can spray catnip to take playtime to the next level.

Wool rugs are incredibly durable, making them suitable for entry and hallways, other than guest rooms and bedrooms. Lanolin, a naturally occurring oil in wool, makes wool rugs more resistant to stains than other materials.

Our wool rugs are entirely handmade and hand-stitched in Nepal. Pure New Zealand wool is used to make the felt balls, of which hundreds are tightly hand-stitched together to create a single rug. These rugs are reversible, thanks to our amazingly skilled artisans who stitched them with superior craftsmanship, so there are no visible stitches.

Eco Dog & Cat design all our items here in Sydney. We want to create products that are unique and different.

This felt ball basket measures a massive 50 cm diameter, explicitly designed for bigger cats such as Maine C***s or several kittens.

Our skilled artisans handstitched (not glued) each individual felt ball and created a double wall for durability.

Each step of our production process was carefully thought out to ensure we create our products as ethically, sustainably and ecologically as possible. You won’t ever find any machinery mass producing our products. Each item is handmade and unique.

We dried all our products with natural light only. Eco Dog & Cat is very fortunate to have such a passionate team of skilled female artisans over in Nepal to create our goodies.
