Kenmar Honesty Stall

Kenmar Honesty Stall This is my little stall selling plants and produce that I have grown.

I enjoy gardening and always grow / propagate too much, so I this allows me to offer my plants and produce to the local community! The small cost for my plants helps pay for propagation mix, rooting hormones, pots, fertiliser, and my time and care. Where my plants are grown from cuttings, I develop the root system and on-grow them for at least 2 weeks to ensure you get a happy, healthy, established plant.

I had the lovelist little interaction with someone yesterday. I was driving home from taking my son to soccer, and there was a lady standing out where my plant stall used to be. My first thought was "oh no, maybe someone had come looking for plants and I don't have my stall at the moment 😔"

As I turned into the driveway I stopped and wound down my window. The lady asked if I had a white dog. I said yes, white with black patches. Apparently hubby had left the side gate open and the scallywag had gone for a bit of a wander. Anyway the lady said she just wanted to check he got home ok, and that he was a friendly dog :) Which he is, very friendly 🥰

And then she asked "When are you going to have plants again?" ☺️

That made my day - it's been ages and to think people still remember. I definitely miss driving up to my house and seeing people browse the stall, or coming out from the back to have a chat; or just driving in/out and see those plants sitting there.

I mentioned that life had been settling and that I was getting inspired again, so I am going to say a tentative "watch this space"! 😁

I have plants! Well not on my stall yet; in my shade house, and some are probably what I'd call first generation cuttings ;) I might not actually put anything on my stall until the weather improves a bit anyway. But if I do have anything ready to go before then I'll post on here.

First pic is some duranta, torrenia, coleus, baby sunrose, and yellow sunrose. It's quite a pretty sunrose with a stripe of pink on the yellow flowers every so often.

Oh and you might be able to see a poorly looking hibiscus - it has lots of roots and I'm really hoping it establishes. I was up at my mother-in-laws before Christmas and the neighbour asked if he could prune back her hibiscus. It borders both properties so she said that's fine but next thing we know he'd ripped them all out! She had a red one and a lovely light purple one that was from Far North Qld. So I'm hoping this one grows well and I can give it to her. It would be really nice if it's the light purple, but the red one was lovely too.

Second photo is some betel leaf, pothos, epipremnum, eucharis lilies, syngonium and a couple of other things. Including a birds next fern that is the offspring of one I rescued from someone last year. So it won't be going anywhere, but I'd love to eventually get some babies from it. There's a nice story behind the betel leaf as well, but I'll share that another time.

And the last photo is the beautiful lily that's currently flowering in our pond. I would also really like to learn how to propagate that, but it will require me to be in the right frame of mind to handle pond water 😆 The little fern is really cute as well, it's loving the rain!

Next week is my birthday and I'm thinking it's a good week to get back to my propagating hobby! It's been a year since I last had anything on my stall and I miss driving in and seeing the plants, and chatting to people that come past for a look or to pick something up. :)

It will probably take a few weeks before I have plants on my stall as I like to make sure they are established first, but I might have a few things that are ready to go earlier, or cuttings that I can share.

Photo's of some of the plants in my garden that I'll take cuttings of, and I'll be raiding my parents garden as well ;) And bonus video of my cat and dog at the end. :)

For the past few months I haven't been great mental health wise. But recently I've been having ideas about getting back to my stall. I can't promise when, but I'm feeling that propagation "itch" again (which sounds much more x-***ed than I mean 😆)

Anyway... here's a bit of a post I wrote on my blog about how I'm going https://baysidehomestead.com/2023/04/30/april-2023/?fbclid=IwAR3pD8LWtYb63GBP4L9i0exxFJDnS8WY9ZZcPpq7jLNvNgDGcfswSErh4wc

April has been an interesting month. It certainly feels like it’s been a long month. I’m writing this on the 30th (woohoo, an on time update for once!) and it feels like Easter was so l…

My stall is pretty much empty at the moment. This is something I wrote on my blog that explains why! But hopefully over the weekend I'll get back into the garden and shade houses. :)

Someone was asking about my shade plants today, so I took a few photos. I don't always remember to post photos of them :)

There's spider plants, Diffenbachia 'Star Bright', Philodendron 'Silver Sword', Ctenanthe, Pothos 'Snow Queen', Pothos 'Jade', Pothos 'Golden', Epipremnums, and Syngonium 'Neon and 'White Butterfly'.

I'm really hoping to get in and pot up a few of the Neon and White Butterfly Syngoniums together as I think they would make a nice Christmas display. We'll see if I actually get the time to do it though! :)

Prices for my plants are pay what you want, with a suggestion of $2 - $3. With the shade plants most of them live in the shade house so let me know if you are after anything (dm is best) and I can put it aside for you to pick up. :)

I thought I'd share this - I'm getting rid of a few (read lots of) things that we have lying around. Things in perfect or very good condition but we just don't use them anymore. I'm going to put the things on Bayside Homestead page since it's not plant related so if you are interested you will need to follow that :)

I’m enjoying this weather at the moment, and it seems my tomatoes are too! I planted a mix of Mini Amish and Mini San Marzano a couple of months ago and they were slow to take off but are giving me a nice reward now :) We use a few but the rest have been going in the freezer to make passata along with some other larger tomatoes that the neighbour gave us. And our amaryllis lilies are putting on a nice display too! I might have to divide it up after it's finished flowering.

I just popped a couple more ivys, perpetual spinach, lavender, gazanias, liriope, and pothos on the stall. I’m loving getting it stocked up again :) And the free seeds are still available in the box - so please come and help yourself! I'll make a sign for it eventually 😆

Prices for my plants are pay what you want, with a suggestion of $2 - $3 or $1 for seedlings or plants that look like they need some TLC. Anything marked with an asterix is in the shade house, so just let me know if you want anything from there just let me know and we’ll arrange pick up :) I am also happy to put anything aside for you (pick up within 24 hours).
