Microchimerism is the presence of cells from one individual in another genetically distinct individual.

Pregnancy is the main cause of natural microchimerism and it has been suggested that fetomaternal traffic occurs in all pregancies.

Moreover fetal cells are reported to persist in the mother for decades.

Male cells have been found in maternal blood even decades after pregnancy including in one case in which the woman was last pregnant with a male child 27 years earlier.

In sharing this concept, I’m hoping it might bring a little bit of comfort, joy or warmth - our bodies are truly incredible ❤️

I’m Avalon, I’m a Mum, a nurse, a wife and the proud owner of this little teeny tiny business, Bundle of Joy 🇦🇺❤️

Bundle of Joy is a small gift bundle business that I run from my spare room. We want gifting to parents to be, new parents and their little bundles of joy to be a stress free but thoughtful experience. If you’re looking to gift to colleagues, friends, family or clients, let us help you! We can cater to any budget, offer a quick turn over if you’re looking for a last minute gift, we can personalise the message for you as well as provide pick up or direct postage to the recipient.

🐚 I am mum to two little ones, Arielle (nearly 1) and Levi (just turned 3) and they are the inspiration behind my business!
🐚 I struggle to find balance as many do when it comes to juggling it all but I really try my best.
🐚 My business is my creative outlet and it makes me so happy to pack each and every single order!
🐚 We recently had our first family holiday overseas - we went to Fiji! It was incredibly beautiful and the people were AMAZING!
🐚 I am a cancer care nurse (I have been an RN since I was 20 years old) and love my job - it is rewarding and the people I work with are so special. I also have a law degree but I found out I was pregnant with Levi just a few months after I graduated and got married at the end of 2019/beginning of 2020.
🐚 Exercise is and always has been so important for my mental health- it is something I prioritise despite the chaos and busy schedule of being a working mum.

In Australia, statistics on pregnancy loss are not collected but it is estimated to be around 1 in 4 pregnancies. It is a common, devastating reality for many but it doesn’t have to be isolating when dealing with grief.

Talking about pregnancy loss can be so difficult for a variety of reasons but it is incredibly important to share our stories to break the pervasive silence, remove stigma and improve the support for those experiencing this.
