Some art asks you to look. This asks you to stay. Here is a preview of the works of Birrunga Wiradyuri on display now at QueensPlaza.
Lionel Lauch: healer, artist, cultural knowledge holder, whose connection to the late Uncle Archie Roach is woven quietly into the way Birrunga has seen him. A man, as Birrunga describes, who shines brightly on his own terms.
Dave Leha, SongMan: a figure of such deep internal presence that Birrunga found himself drawn into the space between performance and contemplation. The balance between Lore and its living expression. Intense, considered, and somewhere inside all of it, a smile in the eyes.
murru wahluu: The first Cultural practice marking on Wahluu to honour a senior Lore Man's passing since colonisation. The fencing in the work is deliberate, a meditation on what has been excluded, interrupted, and what continues regardless.
