It's hard to believe that our time with the Red Dress is nearly at an end. There are only 5 days left of the exhibition here in Australia! Don't miss out! Visit the Museum of Brisbane this week!

✨ Just 5 days left of The Red Dress exhibition at Museum of Brisbane! 🇦🇺✨

I’m now back in Brisbane to spend these final few days with The Red Dress before packing her up and bringing her home to the UK – and there’s lots happening before we leave!

Over the coming days I’ll be sharing talks, workshops and events around the dress, meeting visitors and celebrating this very special Australian chapter of her journey.

And if you haven’t seen her yet, there’s still time! ✨

The Red Dress is at the Museum of Brisbane until 13th September – so do come and experience her in person while she’s here.

📍 Museum of Brisbane
Level 3, Brisbane City Hall
64 Adelaide Street, Brisbane City
Entry via King George Square

🕙 Open daily, 10am–5pm
✨ Entry is free

It’s wonderful to be back, and I’m so looking forward to everything these final few days will hold. ❤️

Yesterday when I visited the Museum of Brisbane to spend time with the Red Dress, I was asked questions about the Australian panel and how it came together. I decided to put together a short video from some of the photos taken while we worked on the Red Dress from the first planning meeting to the finished panel. This was our journey.

Allthreads will be closed on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th August 2026 so that we can carry out a stocktake. Wednesday is a public holiday, and we would ordinarily be closed, so hopefully this won't cause too much inconvenience.

A walk with Kirstie Macleod through White's Hill Reserve this afternoon did not disappoint! 4 wallabies , 3 koalas, and a kookaburra in a gum tree! A fitting end to her first trip to Australia!
(The wallabies were camera shy and didn't stay long enough to get good photos)!

Kirstie Macleod has been staying with me the last few days and so I was able to take a closer look at the gorgeous garments that have been loaned to her by Ka-Sha for this tour snd which you may have seen her wearing to various events in Warwick and Brisbane. Ka-Sha is a clothing brand in India - their garments are exquisitely sewn with meticulous detail! The patterns in the fabric are sewn, not printed - even the labels are hand stitched in tiny chain stitches! And so I share them with you! While Kirstie signed books and catalogues, I admired her outfits!

Today Allthreads Embroidery and the Queensland Women's Historical Association hosted a presentation by Kirstie Macleod for 112 attendees!
Everyone was touched by the stories Kirstie shared about the embroiderers and the journey of the Red Dress and her dedication and commitment to this project!
Special thanks to Kirstie for the presentation, to Aunty Raelene Baker for her welcome, to the Qld Government for sponsoring this public event so that it could be free, and to everyone who attended!
