While on an ADF contract in North Queensland recently, I noticed that after a few days in the field the Army's AMCU uniform seemed to lose much of its pattern, blending into a fairly solid olive drab. While still effective, I think older camouflage with larger, higher-contrast shapes—like DPCU/AUSCAM—did a better job of breaking up the body's outline, even after weeks of hard use.
That got me thinking, so I experimented with applying the AUSCAM colour palette to the Vietnam-era ERDL and Tiger Stripe patterns. Personally, I'd love to see uniforms made in either of these.
What do you reckon? Would you wear them, or do you think AMCU is still the better pattern?
