Did you know❓

Australia was the first country in the world to issue a polymer banknote. 💵

The 1988 Bicentenary $10 note was the test run: plastic substrate, a clear security window, and a very Australian leap forward in note design.

It was the beginning of the banknotes we now handle every day.

Only a couple of years before Australia switched to the $1 coin, this bundle was packed by the Reserve Bank. 💵

It contains 1,000 1982 Johnston/Stone $1 notes, still in its original Reserve Bank wrapper – exactly as it left the banking system over 40 years ago.

Untouched bundles like this are becoming increasingly difficult to find, making them a fascinating piece of Australian numismatic history.
