Suddenly it’s September! 

We’re reading KITTEN by Stacey Yu, with a Saturday meetup added to our contemporary book club lineup. This month is our skip month for classics, but we’ll be reading CARMILLA by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu for October, if you want a head start! 

The Clay Classroom girls are back across two weekends with the second round of their sold-out incense holder workshop. If you were thinking of joining, snap up the last spot via the link in our bio or on stories, we’d love for you to join us.

We’ve got two writing workshops in September - our regular Saturday night is at the end of the month, but Gillian Hagenus is also joining us on the 18th to teach a Weird Writing workshop. There are just a couple of spots left for each.

Finally, don’t forget it’s Father’s Day on the 6th - between Booker lists and biographies, we’ve got some excellent picks for dad in store.

Tickets are up for our September writing workshop!

Join us in store for a generative writing workshop, with no pressure ever to share anything you've written. With prompts ranging from random map views, to tarot cards, to the last text message you sent, the idea for these workshops isn't to leave with a polished piece but to give you a way back into your writing practice.

Following this month’s sold-out clay workshops, we’re very excited to be a stockist for Incense Lab - the shop smells incredible.

Sia handmakes all of her incense here in Brisbane, creating small-batch, low-smoke, natural incense with locally-sourced ingredients. We’re starting with a selection of favourites, including the scents we had in-store during the workshops…
Serein - fresh yuzu and bergamot
Aura - lemon myrtle and tea tree
Solace - mandarin and tangerine
Glid - osmanthus, petitgrain and bergamot
Brume - fragonia and buddawood

Sunday night was the first of our two-part clay workshop with Mary Richardson and Sophia Seto — the shop was transformed into a beautiful, cosy pottery studio space, as they taught a group of new potters hand building techniques to make their own incense holders, complete with scents from Incense Lab and delicious charcuterie boxes.
