Nearly everyone shopping for an electric bike checks the range. Almost nobody checks the battery.
That battery lives in your home and charges there. How it was tested matters more than any number on the spec sheet.
In 2026 the rules finally caught up. A federal safety rule is in public comment, California allows only tested packs, and New York City requires certification to sell.
The 60 second check: look for a real standard named in the listing, either UL 2849 or UL 2271. Look for named cells like Samsung, LG or Panasonic. Look for a warranty and a phone number that a human answers. If nobody will tell you the standard, that is your answer.
Every certified commuter bike we carry starts at $899.99.
Did you check the certification on your battery before you bought, or find out afterward?
