“Cold Spaghetti offers a new vantage point on Andre Ethier’s deeply personal approach to songcraft. In fully digesting and ultimately breaking down the separation between “mundane” and “artistic” life, he’s discovered new evocative channels.
There’s a sense of nostalgia for the lost freedom of making art that permeates Cold Spaghetti, but Ethier’s writing also indicates an awareness of how one’s stubborn desire to create can impact the people closest to them. These more inward tendencies are tempered by the inescapable freshness ushered in by the unorthodox methods in which Andre conceived the songs. This quality imbues the album with a certain intangible feeling of hope.
Since his days as the frontman of The Deadly Snakes, Ethier has cultivated an entirely different artistic practice as an acclaimed contemporary painter. ANENON - Dream Temperature

Saxophonist, producer and composer Brian Allen Simon explores darker hues, transposing waking and altered states under his studio veil Anenon. On the deeply evocative new album ‘Dream Temperature’, he shifts electronic processing to the foreground, introducing digitized wind instruments and unworldly atmospherics, not heard since his innovating mid-late 2010s output.
A longtime Los Angeles resident, born and raised, Brian Allen Simon has expressively operated under the moniker Anenon, releasing the highly revered ‘Petrol’ (2016), ‘Tongue’ (2018) and the viscerally beautiful ‘Moons Melt Milk Light’ (2023), in a line of unwavering musical dialogues.
While the penultimate album was a deliberate, reductive, entirely acoustic detour that was born out of a want to unplug, ‘Dream Temperature’ sees Brian primed with a newly discovered wind synthesizer as his central compositional tool, alongside acoustic piano and tenor saxophone. The entirety of the album’s electronics are triggered by Brian’s lungs, generating otherworldly synths modulated by expressive breath control, channelled through the laptop as the core processing chamber for added textural components and field recordings.

ASTEROID B-612 - Fallen Slow 7"

Highly recommended.
In June 2025 you heard for the first time in over 25 years NEW music from the seminal Australian rock´n´roll band ASTEROID B612, and now you get some more in the way of the new single "Fallen Slow".
During rehearsals for a recent Australian tour to promote their 2025 album ¨roads, stars¨ the fellas from Asteroid B612 found themselves with a few hours to spare and thought what better way to spend those hours than to record a new single!
A driving backbeat with pulsating guitars and a soulful vocal that is what you get with Fallen Slow and we ask the question ¨do you need anymore??¨
The band needed a B side for the single, so after about 5 minutes of discussion Johnny suggested the ´long lost hit´ from Australian favorites The Easybeats ¨St Louis¨.
The fellas walked outside of the recording studio and all crowded into a car to listen to the song on the car stereo and work out their parts and before sundown the single was complete!

Modern post-punk releases like this Cola record feel like a really strong direction for the genre to go in. Groovy, super-tight, and each band puts a little twist on the genre.

DEAN & BRITTA & SONIC BOOM - A Peace Of Us LP

In a season where we all seek comfort, tradition, and a return to a home of sorts, a trio composed of indie music’s foundational members have gifted us A Peace of Us - an album of diverse holiday tunes filtered through their musical imaginations.
Dean and Britta, well-known from their work defining a genre with Galaxie 500 and Luna, join Spacemen 3’s Sonic Boom, another bastion of indie’s collective adolescence, to bring to life a collection that draws from early ‘60s pop, garage, country, James Bond soundtracks, Christmas carols, and electronica.
Dean Wareham recalls a sentiment from his DJ friend Chris: “You can experience all the emotions of Christmas through music: love and hate, joy and heartache, nostalgia, regret, anticipation, and frustration.”
Their venture into a holiday album was organic, spurred by a few cover tunes over the years, a Christmas special during the pandemic, and finally collaborative sessions between Dean and Britta in L.A. and Sonic Boom in Portugal.
The trio all contributed vocals, with guitars by Wareham, bass and keyboards by Phillips, effects, and mixes by Sonic. The result is an album of exploration as well as comfort, “like Bing Crosby...on acid,” Britta adds, the tracklist a reminder that the holidays are complex and tragicomic.

Originally released on Universal Sounds in 1996, now fully remastered and with new artwork.
This album brings together key tracks from Doug Carn recorded for Black Jazz Records in the 1970s.
Doug Carn is one of the most-important (and least-recognised) forces in the creation of the canon of 'deep and spiritual jazz music' - full of powerfully emotive intensity, consciously-uplifting lyricism and addictively beautiful melodies.
All of his LPs during this period have since achieved cult classic status including 'Infant Eyes', 'Adam's Apple', 'Spirit of the New Land' and 'Revelation'.
Aside from his songwriting and keyboard skills, many of the tracks here feature the stunning and powerful 5-octave range vocals of Jean Carn (later Carne), his wife at the time.
Musicians featured on this album include Alphonse Mouzon, Charles Tolliver, Henry Franklin, Michael Carvin, Walter Booker, Ronnie Laws and others. Aside from Carn’s compositions there are also striking interpretations of music by Lee Morgan, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, McCoy Tyner, Bobby Hutcherson and Wayne Shorter.
Black Jazz became one of the defining labels of independent and conscious jazz music in the 1970s alongside other important labels such as Strata-East and Tribe Records. As well as this Best of Doug Carn release, Soul Jazz Records are also releasing a Best of Black Jazz Records collection at the same time.

DWARVES - Come Clean LP

The Dwarves no longer need to scream profanities to be the most dangerous band in the world. They've proved that already. They're dangerous because of a state of mind. Nothing they do is serious but nothing they do can be discounted. Whether inciting riots, celebrating flesh or simply destroying musical concepts The Dwarves have done it slyly. 'Come Clean' is therefore a triumph.
Taking cheesiness to new heights the eleven super fast, super short songs are a mixed bag of styles from bad dance techno to pop punk and even grindcore!!! The Dwarves simply want to turn everything you liked in music on it's head, and while you think that's such a Dwarves thing to do you're never sure what their intentions are. That's been the whole history of the Dwarves. What are they really about? If that's too deep a thing to think about then just enjoy 'Come Clean' for what it is, an amazing record of strong songs, witty lyrics and that Blag factor.
