Notice to Staff, Members, Volunteers, Customers and Supporters

On Sunday, 23 August 2026 Clint Joseph and Giovanni Carrello of BRI Ferrier were appointed Joint & Several Administrators of Leschenault Community Nursery Inc (Administrators Appointed) ("LCN").

We understand this news will be significant for our staff, members, volunteers, customers, supporters and the broader community.

LCN has played an important role in Bunbury over the past 30 years, propagating and conserving native plants, while providing opportunities for the local community to volunteer and come together. We want to acknowledge the care, commitment and support that so many people have shown to the nursery over this time.

From this point forward, all matters relating to the affairs of LCN will be managed by the Administrators. Any questions about the voluntary administration, the appointment of BRI Ferrier, or related matters should be directed to BRI Ferrier.

To all of our followers and friends. Tomorrow marks the last Saturday that you will be able to purchase the biggest variety of the best native plants available in the southwest. From the beach side to the top of the scarp and beyond, we have something for your special piece of Australia. 9am to 3pm.
We have everything from ground cover to canopy trees, bush tucker, habitats and hotels for bees.
Trays of seedlings for bulk planting available.
Speak to our friendly staff and get the right plants and advice for your native garden.
LCN thanks you for your support and we will keep you informed of our progress going forward.

To all our loyal customers, community and volunteers.
Yes we are still open tomorrow Friday 14th, Saturday 15th and then Monday 17th through till Saturday 22nd and again on Monday 24th from 9am till 3pm.
Customers are welcome to come and grab some bargains from a huge range of seedlings through to our larger plants on offer in our retail section. Bulk amounts available or just that perfect one for a special place.
Volunteers are welcome every day including Saturday until the 24th at which time we will be closing for a while.
We will keep you all posted as we progress. Our aim is to remain available to our volunteering community and to re-establish a sustainable future for your LCN Native Plant Nursery.

We will be open tomorrow from 9am till 3pm.

Plants for birds and bees, plants that will become trees. Habitats for critters too and even bags of soil for you.

The nursery garden center will be open as normal tomorrow from 9am till 3pm and we encourage the public to come in and explore the great range of plants available. Changes to operating hours will be announced as needed while the board works through this challenging time.
We appreciate the continued support of our community and members whilst we transition to a more sustainable operating model.

LESCHENAULT COMMUNITY NURSERY UNDERTAKES RESTRUCTURE TO SECURE FUTURE
The Leschenault Community Nursery in Bunbury will temporarily close over the winter months to allow the Board to undertake a restructure aimed at strengthening the organisation and securing its long-term future.
For more than 30 years, the not-for-profit nursery has played an important role in propagating and conserving native plants while supplying a diverse range of species across the South West. The nursery has also provided valuable opportunities for community members to volunteer, learn new skills and connect with others.
Board Chair Sean Ellingham said the restructure followed a review of the organisation’s operations and governance and was a necessary step to ensure the organisation remains sustainable and continues to serve the community for many years to come.
"Like many community organisations, the nursery has experienced financial challenges in the current economic climate, as well as increased competition from commercial nurseries now offering native plant varieties," Mr Ellingham said.
"The Leschenault Community Nursery is a much-loved community institution and it is important that we take the time to carefully assess our operating model and determine the best path forward.
"We are committed to ensuring the nursery continues to provide opportunities for members of the community, including seniors, people living with disability and other volunteers, to socialise, connect with others and develop propagation and conservation skills.
"At the same time, we remain committed to supporting the conservation and diversity of local native plant species and encouraging their use in gardens, landscaping and rehabilitation projects throughout the South West."
Mr Ellingham said all existing orders would be fulfilled and plants would continue to be cared for by qualified personnel during the temporary closure.
"The Board is confident that this process will put the nursery in a stronger position for the future, and we look forward to continuing to serve the community and support native plant conservation for many years to come," he said.

🌧️ We love rainy days at LCN. 🌱

While the rain gently falls outside, it’s business as usual at the nursery.

Our wonderful volunteers are giving today’s orders the once-over before collection, making sure every plant is looking its best before it heads off to its new home. Their care and attention help ensure our customers receive healthy, quality South West native plants every time.

Rainy days are some of our favourites. Every shower nourishes the plants still growing on-site, strengthening the thousands of natives that will one day contribute to caring for Country, restoring habitat, and supporting local wildlife.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers for everything they do, whatever the weather. 💚
