This weekend, communities across Western Cape York, including Weipa, Mapoon and Aurukun, lost mobile and internet services for an extended period after damage to telecommunications infrastructure. For the people up there, it meant no easy way to call for help, take payments, or run a business. Our thoughts are with them.
It's also a hard reminder of something we talk about a lot. When communications go down, the time to start thinking about your backup connection has already passed.
Most people know Starlink can get you online where traditional services can't. What they often don't have is a setup where the switch happens on its own. At Outback Comms, we design connectivity for your actual site, with a primary and a backup connection and automatic failover, so if one path drops, you keep operating without anyone having to notice or intervene.
Could your business keep running if your main connection went down for 24 hours? If the answer is no, or you're not sure, that's worth a conversation before the next outage, not during it.
Talk to the Outback Comms team about building real resilience into your connectivity.
