While moving a few things around, we discovered a couple of cones of La Bella Butterscotch DK/8ply that had somehow escaped our attention. (We're blaming the machinery. 😉)

So, La Bella DK/8ply in Butterscotch is back online!

And that's not all... we've also just finished the latest batch of La Bella DK/8ply in Mid Grey, so it's now back in stock as well.

If you've been waiting for either of these natural favourites, you'll find them ready to head from our mill to your needles.

Some colours never go out of style.

Our La Bella Mid Grey has become one of those shades we find ourselves reaching for again and again. Soft, versatile and completely natural, it's equally at home in textured sweaters, delicate shawls or timeless everyday accessories.

This shade was especially popular at Bendigo, where so many of you loved our display jumper — the Poppy Bloom Pullover by Sari Nordlund (pattern is in Ravelry)— and it quickly became one of the most talked-about pieces on the stand.

One of the things we love most about natural grey is its quiet depth. Look closely and you'll notice subtle variation that gives the finished fabric a softness and character all of its own.

This week we're remaking Mid Grey in DK / 8ply as part of our ongoing production after Bendigo, restocking one of our most-loved and most versatile shades.

Next week we'll be restocking Light Grey as part of our ongoing production after Bendigo.

Sometimes the classics deserve another moment in the spotlight.

If you were casting on today, what would you make?

One of the questions we're often asked is how we power the mill.

The answer is... the sun. ☀️

Since moving to Burrumbeet, we've chosen to run our mill completely off-grid, with our machinery powered by our solar system and battery storage. It's not something we often think about day to day—it's simply part of how we work.

As the spinner quietly turns fibre into yarn, the batteries are doing their job in the background, storing energy and helping keep everything running, even on days when the winter skies are a little grey. 🧶

For us, sustainability isn't one single thing. It's a collection of choices—from working with natural fibres and producing in small batches to making the most of the energy available to us. ☀️

They're the quiet parts of the story that sit behind every skein of yarn we make.

Would you like to see more of the behind-the-scenes side of the mill?

✨ A spot has just become available...

Due to a cancellation, we now have one place available in our September 2-Day Yarn Master Class.

Ever wondered what really happens inside our mill?

This is your chance to step behind the scenes and experience commercial yarn making from fibre to finished yarn. Over two days, you'll work directly with the machinery we use every day to card, spin and ply yarn, learning alongside our small, experienced team in a relaxed, hands-on environment.

Whether you're a fibre enthusiast, spinner, small flock owner or simply curious about how yarn is made, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to see the entire process up close and ask all the questions you've ever wanted to ask.

Numbers are kept very small so everyone has plenty of time on the machines and personal guidance throughout the weekend.

If you've been thinking about joining us, this is the perfect opportunity.

Back to the rhythm of the mill 🧶

After a wonderful few weeks leading up to Bendigo, it’s time to settle back into our routine of what we love most — making yarn.

This week we’re working on a small commission spinning job while also starting to prep fibre to restock some of our favourite yarns. It might look a little quieter than show season, but behind the scenes there’s plenty happening.

These are the weeks where ideas become plans, fibres become yarn, and the shelves/ boxes slowly fill again.

We’ve got an exciting few months ahead, with new batches, plenty of making, and preparations already beginning for some special events later in the year.

Thanks for following along with the journey. We’re so glad you’re here. ☺️

A few moments from a wonderful weekend at the 🧶

Firstly, thank you to the amazing team behind the show for putting together another fantastic event. So much work goes on behind the scenes to make the weekend such a success, and we’re grateful to be part of it each year.

And to everyone who stopped by our stand – thank you. Whether you came to squish yarn, discover us for the first time, share your latest project, or simply say hello, we loved every conversation.

Thank you for the laughs, the hugs, the kind words, and for supporting our little mill. Seeing familiar faces return each year alongside so many new ones is what makes weekends like this so special.

These photos capture just a few of our favourite moments—from beautiful sheep and our annual donut tradition to a busy stand filled with yarn lovers. (Thank you Mr 🍩 🙏 😋).
They don’t quite capture all the wonderful conversations, but they’ll certainly remind us of another memorable Bendigo weekend.

We hope you enjoy creating with your new yarn, and we’d love to see what you make. Don’t forget to tag us in your projects so we can follow along.

Until next time... thank you. ❤️
