One of these plants is Indian. It is called ‘Ponnigani’. The other is Brazilian; it’s called ‘Sissoo’. They are both regarded very favourably in their respective countries as edible spinach. They are the same plant, different forms of Aternanthera sessilis.

How much space do you need to grow carrots?
Well these five small carrots were all grown in the 100 mm pot. About the same size as a coffee cup. Nice and sweet too.

This is enormous and horrendous🤬 An emergency ban has been applied to a widely used agricultural chemical because of the very real and severe danger it presents to unborn children. This stuff is mainly used on vegetables. Ffs can you imagine, still putting profit before people.

Farmers and retailers must immediately stop using a herbicide due to an imminent risk to human health, following earlier concerns from US regulators.

This kefir cheese and mixed ‘greens’ empanada, using Spring roll wrappers was really good to eat. Great way to use up too many greens, (as if that were possible) 😂

Just making sure people are aware of how easy, productive, and useful pepino’s are. You can always pop in for a free cutting with roots on.

This seed is a great colour innit? It’s Jute! Jute is one of those plants like the cabbage, gourd and common bean, that come in so many varieties it’s hard to imagine they all started from one common parent. Jute grows on the delta of the Ganges 4 metres tall for turning its long and strong fibres into rope and sacking.
But in Morocco it’s a short plant destined for a plate. It is nutrient rich, delicious and grown in various forms and places across Africa and Asia. It’s getting sown in the morning, (the short spinach form).

Beetroot, So I had these beetroot growing in 100mm pots… for two years😖 Not sure why, maybe I was going to plant them out, maybe I left them because they looked leafy. But as you can see they’re so old they grew a second beet under the original. They’ve had little or no fertilising. Now I knew that beets are very forgiving of terrible Gardeners, but… anyway I decided to put them to the test. Steamed them for 15minutes and you’d think they were just baby’s, lovely. 😂

Two African horned cucumbers, (wrongly named Kiwano, tsch tsch New Zealand). One weighs in at 245 grms, the other 128 grm. When fully ripe the mottling remains but changes colour to a vibrant orange. Inside the green flesh resembles Chinese Gooseberries, (Kiwi fruit, sigh), but tastes nothing like, bleh is probably closest. They sometimes find their way onto the grocers shelves as ripe, over priced to discourage buyers, they’re decoration.

But when young they are the best tasting cucumbers you’ll ever use. How young? Let’s find out, well I’ll find out for you.
