TUI NA + REIKI FOR WOMEN
Tui Na is a traditional Chinese therapeutic bodywork practice that works with the body through techniques such as pressing, rolling, kneading and rhythmic movement.
From a TCM perspective, Tui Na can be used alongside acupuncture to support the movement of Qi and Blood and address areas of tension.
Reiki offers a different layer of care, providing a quiet, restorative practice that many people experience as deeply relaxing.
For women moving through stress, motherhood, postpartum recovery or periods of feeling physically and emotionally depleted, this combination can create space to slow down and reconnect.
Not every woman needs the same treatment.
That is why we look at the individual.

WHY DOES TCM USE MOXA + FIRE CUPPING?
Moxibustion uses the warmth of burning mugwort to gently warm specific acupuncture points and areas of the body.
In TCM theory, moxa is particularly associated with warming Yang, supporting Qi and Blood movement and addressing patterns where cold or stagnation are present.
Fire cupping creates suction against the skin and is traditionally used to encourage local circulation and relieve muscular tension.
For women, these techniques may be incorporated into treatments addressing presentations such as menstrual discomfort, lower back tension or muscular tightness.
But they’re not appropriate for everyone.
Your treatment needs to be individualised.
Save this if you’ve ever wondered why your acupuncturist reaches for the moxa or cups.

WHAT IS QI? ✨

You can’t see it, but in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qi influences everything.

Pronounced “chee”, Qi is often translated as vital energy or the life force that moves through and animates the body.

In TCM, Qi plays an important role in:

✦ Movement — helping things flow and function throughout the body

✦ Warmth — supporting the body’s natural temperature and activity

✦ Protection — forming part of the body’s defensive functions

✦ Transformation — helping transform food and air into energy

✦ Holding & supporting — helping maintain healthy function and structure

When Qi flows harmoniously, the body is traditionally understood to function with greater balance and vitality.

When Qi becomes deficient, stagnant or disrupted, TCM looks at the patterns that may be contributing and works towards restoring balance.

One of the things I love most about Traditional Chinese Medicine is that it doesn’t view the body as separate parts.

Everything is connected.

Your emotions.
Your digestion.
Your sleep.
Your energy.
Your environment.
Your lifestyle.

✨ The body is always communicating.

And sometimes, healing begins by learning how to listen.

YOUR PERIOD SHOULDN’T HAVE TO STOP YOUR LIFE.

Cramping.

Lower back pain.

Pelvic heaviness.

Feeling cold and depleted around your period.

Needing to curl up and cancel everything because your body hurts.

These experiences are common, but that doesn’t mean you have to simply accept them as your normal.

In TCM, menstrual health is viewed through patterns of Qi and Blood movement, Yin and Yang, and the relationship between different organ systems.

The question isn’t simply:

“Where does it hurt?”

It’s:

“Why is your body presenting this way?”

YOUR BODY CAN FEEL TIRED EVEN WHEN YOUR MIND WON’T SLOW DOWN.
Motherhood, hormonal changes, poor sleep, emotional stress and constantly caring for others can leave women feeling tense, depleted and disconnected from their bodies.
You might notice:
🌿 Tight shoulders and neck
🌿 Tension through the back and hips
🌿 Restless sleep
🌿 Feeling wired but exhausted
🌿 Difficulty switching off
🌿 Needing more time to recover
In TCM, we look beyond the symptom and consider the whole pattern of the body.
Your physical body, emotions, Qi, Blood, Yin and Yang are all part of the picture.
Your body isn’t failing you.
It may be asking for support.
Save this if you’ve been feeling like your body is asking you to slow down.

Sometimes what looks like anxiety, irritability, exhaustion or feeling completely overwhelmed is your body telling you it has been carrying too much for too long.
Your nervous system is constantly taking in information from your environment, your relationships, your workload, your sleep, your hormones and your physical body.
And sometimes it needs more than another coffee and pushing through.
Slow down. Eat. Breathe. Move. Rest. Receive.
Your body isn’t working against you.
It is communicating with you. 🤍

Your menstrual cycle is more than your period 🌙
We aren’t machines.
Our energy, appetite, mood, sleep, libido and capacity can change throughout the menstrual cycle.
And yet we’re often expected to show up exactly the same every single day.
In TCM, we can look at the menstrual cycle through the movement of Qi, Blood, Yin and Yang and consider how the body changes throughout the cycle.
This doesn’t mean every woman will experience the same pattern.
It means we can start paying attention.
When do you feel most energised?
When do you naturally want to retreat?
When does your body ask for more food, more sleep, more movement or more stillness?
Your cycle isn’t something to fight against.
It can be another way of listening to your body. 🤍

The woman who remembers everyone’s appointments.
The woman who packs the lunches.
The woman who knows where everything is.
The woman who keeps going when she’s exhausted.
The woman who makes sure everyone else is okay.
Sometimes she forgets that she is a person too.
You don’t have to earn rest.
You don’t have to wait until you’re completely depleted before receiving care.
And you don’t have to have a crisis to deserve support.
Sometimes wellness is simply having somewhere to put yourself back on the list.
Come back to your body.
Come back to your breath.
Come back to you.

OUR SENSUAL RETURN AFTER BIRTH 🤍

There is so much conversation around “getting your body back” after having a baby.

But what if we stopped trying to get back to who we were?

Pregnancy, birth and motherhood can change the way we move, feel, see ourselves and experience intimacy. Sometimes your body can feel unfamiliar. Sometimes desire feels far away. Sometimes you’re so touched-out from caring for everyone else that there’s very little left for yourself.

Your sensuality hasn’t disappeared.

She may just need space to return.

Coming back to yourself doesn’t have to begin with s*x. It can begin with feeling your skin again. Moving your body because it feels good. Taking a bath. Wearing something that makes you feel beautiful. Resting without guilt. Exploring touch without expectation.

Slowly remembering that your body belongs to you too.

You are still you.

You are becoming. 🤍

YOUR PERIOD IS NOT THE ONLY THING THAT NEEDS SUPPORT

Your period is only one part of your menstrual cycle.

And your body needs nourishment throughout the whole month.

Instead of thinking about food as something you need to restrict or control around your cycle, think about feeding the body that is doing a lot of work.

🩸 IRON + PROTEIN
Especially important when you’re regularly losing blood through menstruation. Think eggs, meat, legumes, tofu, leafy greens and iron-rich foods.

🥑 HEALTHY FATS
Avocado, olive oil, nuts, seeds and oily fish provide important fats that support overall health and hormone production.

🥬 FIBRE + PLANTS
A variety of vegetables, fruit, whole grains, legumes and seeds support a nutrient-dense diet and healthy digestion.

💧 HYDRATION
Water matters. Especially when you’re tired, active or experiencing bloating and headaches around your cycle.

🍲 WARM + NOURISHING FOODS
From a TCM perspective, warm cooked meals, soups, stews and nourishing foods are often favoured around menstruation rather than relying heavily on cold, raw foods.

And here’s the important part:

You don’t need to eat perfectly.

You don’t need to follow a complicated “hormone-balancing” diet.

You need enough food.
Enough nutrients.
Enough protein.
Enough rest.

Your menstrual cycle is information about your body — not something you need to fight.

If your periods are extremely painful, very heavy, irregular or significantly affecting your life, that’s worth investigating with your GP or women’s health practitioner.

Nutrition can support general health, but food alone isn’t a treatment for menstrual disorders.
