FRIDAY FLASHBACK 💕 | Visiting Erstwilder!

This time last Friday, while Mr Whoopee and I were in Melbourne, we had a VERY special stop on our itinerary — a visit to the home of Erstwilder! 🎉

And what a welcome we received. 💛

We got to meet the entire crew and finally put faces to so many of the names we see on our screens, in our emails and even stamped on the Erstwilder parcels that arrive at Makin’ Whoopee. We were shown around behind the scenes and got a wonderful little glimpse into the people and place behind all that Erstwilder magic. ✨

We also had the opportunity to sit down with Catherine (aka the Queen of Customer Support 👑) and Marc for a proper chat — about Makin’ Whoopee, how business is going, being an Erstwilder stockist and, of course, all things Erstwilder.

As a small independent stockist all the way up in Cairns, having the opportunity to visit one of our much-loved suppliers, meet the people we communicate with regularly and spend some genuine time getting to know them was incredibly special.

So, to Marc, Catherine and the entire Erstwilder crew — thank you for opening your doors to us, making us feel so welcome and taking time out of your busy day to show us around and have a chat.

We truly appreciate it. 💛

It’s a question we’ve heard more than once — and it’s a completely fair one!

So, fresh from wandering the trade fairs in Melbourne (and possibly ordering just a few new things 👀📦), I thought it was time to explain a little more about what Australian Owned. Australian Designed. Locally Loved. actually means to us.

💌 THIS is why we love what we do. 💌

I returned to the shop yesterday after five days away and was greeted by a mountain of post! 📦

Amongst all the restock parcels and shop mail was one very special piece of post from our long-time customer and friend of Makin’ Whoopee, Carla . ❤️

Inside were two very special gifts — one for Kirsty and one for me. Carla had taken the time to handmake something beautiful for each of us, and then completed it with the most gorgeous, heartfelt note.

Honestly… it made our hearts sing. 🥹💕

We absolutely LOVE our customers. We love meeting you, getting to know you, hearing your stories and watching friendships grow over the years. Your support of our little shop means more than you probably realise.

But when a customer goes out of their way to do something thoughtful for us — just because they feel loved, appreciated and looked after when they shop with Makin’ Whoopee — well, that’s something pretty darn special. 🥰

Carla, thank you. Your kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity touched us more than you know.

We may be a gift shop, but sometimes the customers are the ones who give us the greatest gifts. 💕✨

Melbourne, I’m so incredibly grateful! I awoke today, our last day in Melbourne, to the sound of text messages. They were from Yarra Trams to let me know my bag had been handed in and I could come and collect it. We wondered if everything would be in it and we were absolutely thankful that everything was in there, right down to the last dollar in cash! I would have been okay if the cash wasn’t, I’m just so grateful I don’t have to go through the trouble of getting new cards, licence and prescription sunglasses, and I get to got home tonight with it safely in my hands. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get any info on the person who handed it in, but I want them to know how incredibly grateful I am to them. Melbourne we will be back! Thanks for your hospitality and friendliness.

Melbourne People I desperately need your help. I’ve lost my handbag somewhere along the way on the number 96 tram somewhere between Melbourne Museum and Bourke Street or the 48 between Collins street out to Bridge Road and then return. We stopped for a little look at House of Handmade - Unique Gifts & Craft Workshops and hopped back on the 48 back to Collins street this afternoon. While on the return trip I realised I didn’t have it with me. We have contacted PTV and Yarra trams as well as a local Facebook group a kind lady suggested, but we want to put the feelers out wide to find it. The bag is a shuh. messenger bag (down the bottom of the photo) and has my wallet, prescription sunglasses as well as other personal items. We’ve already blocked the cards etc, but I’m hoping that the amazing people on social media can help me find it so I can get my licence back before we fly home on Monday (as well as the rest of the handbag and contents). Please help by sharing far and wide to all your Melbourne friends and family. I will be truly grateful and will make sure to reward the person who gets it back to me. Thanks for your help. Rosy

Mr Whoopee and I are Melbourne bound, going down to attend the trade shows and visit some of our wonderful makers and suppliers. Don’t worry, the shop is still open and in great hands.
