It is with a heavy heart filled with incredible memories all the same we share the loss of IGFA Legendary Hall of Famer, CPGFA Hall of Fame recipient and one of the greatest mates you could ever have, Billy Fairbairn.
Right around the turn of the high tide early this morning our great mate Billy Fairbairn quietly slipped away bringing a close to an incredible career.
Billy Fairbairn was a great friend to all who knew him, the master of his game and the most respected gentleman and teacher of the craft of heavy tackle marlin fishing to so many, once young now older Captains and Crew. Billy worked in the cockpit of some of the most infamous marlin boats ever put to sea. The success of these operations was no doubt realised for Billy just being there driving their success and that the hundreds of anglers from all corners of the globe who spent time onboard with Billy.
The CPGFA and all the membership mourns this loss none so more than Billy’s close family Cheryl, Rhonda, Jan and the wider fishing world where Billy stood in the highest regard from all of us.
Back together now with Pete and Jimmy there will be many stories being told today as the team gets back together.
For all the boats out on the edge today just getting started on the day ahead in what is shaping up as one of the best bites for years I am sure you will be having the last run of the day thinking about Billy and remembering the great man and how our industry is a better place from men like Billy Fairbairn.
Rest easy mate, back fishing again.
