We have some big news - after years of plants, people, workshops, volunteers, conversations and more than a few muddy shoes, the STEPS Garden Centre will close on 30 October 2026.

We know this will be sad news for many people. It is for us too. The Garden Centre has been much more than somewhere to buy plants. It has been a place to learn, contribute, connect and feel welcome, and that has only been possible because our community has supported us all the way.

While the retail Garden Centre is closing as you know it, the best of it is yet to come.

You’ll still be able to buy plants at STEPS Café on George. We’ll continue creating opportunities to learn horticulture skills, and we’re working on a fresh line-up of hands-on workshops for people who enjoy growing things, making things and learning together.

Our longer-term plan is for STEPS Café on George to become the heart of a lively food, garden and community precinct. Between now and closing day, we would love you to come and see us. Fill your boot with plants and gardening supplies, catch up with familiar faces and stop for coffee or lunch at STEPS Café on George.

We understand you may have questions, so please visit this page for more information and answers to frequently asked questions: https://bit.ly/4Ag5nk2

Thank you for helping us grow the Garden Centre into such a special part of the STEPS community. We look forward to sharing what grows next with you.
