Sometimes when you buy fabric, it doesn’t immediately tell you what it wants to become. Sometimes it makes you wait a while. This denim has been sitting in my stash for more than 20 years- I remember buying it before I moved to Canberra, and that was nearly 21 years ago. Early 2000’s me was obsessed with bootleg jeans, so it’s perhaps fitting that this is the destiny of my same-era denim. I’m using it to make a toile of the DAUGHTER JUDY . Wish me luck- it’s my first foray back into rigid denim after a VERY long time of only wearing stretch denim.

The picture gives it away, but if you were to guess the three most popular colours of pre-made bias binding, what would they be? So you don’t lose any sleep, they are in fact 🥇Red 🥈Petrol 🥉Black. And they are the most popular in both stretch and non-stretch bias binding.

The remnant basket is packed full this morning including a fabulous 2.2m length of Liberty Sycamore Linen. It’s the result of getting distracted while cutting, so there is 2.2 perfect metres, and almost 20cm of angled edge.

Like many small businesses, we’ve been rethinking how we work- and we’ve landed somewhere we’re genuinely proud of.

Walk-in days are Friday and Saturday- no booking needed, just come on in. Same warm welcome, same beautiful fabric, same nerding out about your project.

Monday to Thursday, we’re open by appointment for private one-on-one shopping sessions- in person or via Zoom. Your project gets our full, undivided attention. To book, email [email protected]

Of course, our online store is always open. Pair your browsing with a private appointment if you need.

Classes are still running, with our “Absolute Beginners” and “Bring Your Own Project” continuing to be popular choices. Plus, new classes are in the pipeline, so watch this space.

After that time they will only be available in store until we close on Saturday (11 April) afternoon.
