I'm dropping a brand new yarn base at the Crochet Guild Australia Crochet convention this weekend!

This base is so much fun! It's a tweed look yarn with UV reactive neps (they glow under blacklight!)
It's also glitzy with Angelina sparkles, and dyed in semi solid colourways on a Superwash merino wool sock weight yarn.

I'm officially launching this yarn at the convention - any unsold skeins will be available online after the event. But first dibs will be for anyone who is in Wollongong this weekend 😉

Kent Romney wool has a long history; it is the foundation of the British wool industry going back hundreds of years, it has links to piracy and the black market wool trade, it followed to the colonies when the British colonised Australia, New Zealand and the Americas.... This is a wool with deep historical links!

Is it amazing? I try my best, but probably not always.
But it's made by me. Every time. Cringe and all 🙃

I hate that generative AI is being pushed like this, we should be building these skills and ideas ourselves. Because especially those of us in slow, mindful, art and craft spheres... The point isn't to be fast. We do what we do because it's so fundamentally human.

So here's the truth. My content is not high quality. I'm not a content creator, I'm a fibre artist. I'm not consistent with posting. And I'm not consistent with the content I create. But that's fine. Because I'm human. And it's an expression of me, and that's why we create art in the first place.

So thank you again, to the new people. And NO to all the rest ❤️

A reminder as well, any orders placed after 5pm Tuesday will not ship until after the convention and I'll be interstate!

It's a 16 micron merino restock! I have just added some new colours in my luxuriously soft Willow Vale wool merino base!

is based in Yass NSW, and this wool supports a family run farm that produce absolutely beautiful fibre from their own flock of sheep.
The wool is scoured in Australia, and processed into tops in Australia (in Victoria). Then it is lovingly hand dyed by me, here in Canberra.

In this day and age, it's so hard to know what journeys your fibre, clothes and materials have made. This fibre has a low carbon footprint and the supply chain is fully traceable, so you can craft knowing that your fibre is ethical and sustainable and helps our planet as well as your crafting itch!

More willow vale wool braids will be added soon, but things take extra time to dry at this time of year, so they'll be added as they are ready.
