A favourite Frock throwback today for Frocktober Day 9!

Bright, sparkly, fun, fabulous this Frock makes me feel great and fun fact, I wore it for my 40th birthday!

What doesn’t make me feel great is knowing the survival rate for Ovarian cancer and knowing funding is desperately needed for research into this disease.

Frocktober Day 6 is another day I’ve reached for a frock when I’m not doing anything special…

But this frock from DE GAIL is stretchy and so easy to wear and I’ve layered it with my new Plus Size NZ Fashion • Sizes 12–30+ denim jacket which is actually the plus-size girls@oversized denim jacket of dreams. Glasses are YOU & ALL and shoes are an absolute gem of a find from DECJUBA outlet. Bag I got from Kmart Australia before our Bali trip.

My outfit is comfortable but the statistics about Ovarian cancer are not.

Frocktober Day 5 - another casual home day in a beautiful dress (from Slow Fashion & Free Size ).

I love the ease of this throw on and go style! I hate the fact that Ovarian Cancer is often diagnosed late because there is no screening test.

A different Frocktober post today. It’s a lazy Sunday and I wanted my trackies but I reached for a dress because I’m raising money for Ovarian Cancer research.

And then I thought about how I didn’t want to go to the effort of doing my make up to take “the pic” and my skin is playing up and my eyebrows are thinning and there are a few greys in my hair and I look a bit tired. I’m aging and it shows.

Then I thought about how my perspective on this might change if I lost the choice about how I age. And if I lost the opportunity to keep ageing.

So today’s Frocktober post is me, in a frock, in my skin as it is. Reflecting on the fact that it is an absolute privilege to age and being mindful that without research, detection and a cure, Ovarian Cancer will continue to take that privilege away from too many women.

Frocktober is here and Day 1 is a cracker with a statement skirt and top!

This skirt did start out as a humble dress though. It didn’t fit right so I got the amazing team at Studio Kamboja: Tailor in Bali to transform it so I could enjoy it in all its glory.

Did you know that:
* Around 1,900 Australians are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year.

* Around 1,060 Australians die from it each year, meaning ovarian cancer accounts for almost half of deaths from gynaecological cancers.

* The five-year survival rate is just 49%. Across all cancers in Australia, five-year survival is about 72%.

* There is no national population screening program for ovarian cancer in Australia.

It took so long for me to feel like I could show all these parts of my body with a sense of neutrality. I was waiting for them to be “fixed” before they could be out.

I don’t love every part of my body every day. But I do try and be more neutral about them as parts of the body I exist in and that body doesn’t need to be apologised for in any size or state.
