HANDMADE IN THE AGE OF AI⁠

The more AI slop there is, the more handmade matters. Handmade is becoming a signal, a marker and a status symbol.⁠
Awful posters made in 20 seconds are everywhere. Brands spun up in an afternoon. Logos, products, captions, campaigns, all generated faster than anyone can really think about whether they should exist in the first place.⁠

There is just so much stuff now.⁠
⁠
So much noise. So much sameness. So much rubbish dressed up as something meaningful.⁠
⁠
Don’t forget about handmade, something touched by an actual person. Remember that we need that, to feel human.⁠
Something drawn, baked, stitched, poured, printed, glazed, packed, tested, messed up, redone and eventually put on a shelf. You can feel the difference.⁠
⁠
Handmade means more, because there’s a person in it. This feels more important now than it did even a few years ago.⁠
In a world where trust is falling away and speed is valued over everything, slowing down and connecting with real things and people is more important than ever.⁠
⁠
We are all about real people, connection, good things and making a difference. When you buy something local and handmade and gift it to someone, you’re saying a bit more than ‘I bought you a thing’.⁠

AND all proceeds from the sale of any Allara Creative products during the weekend will go to Allara Creative support initiatives to further the amazing work they do in the community. ⁠

Co-founders of Allara Creative, Jess and Ruth strive to support women from refugee backgrounds in finding confidence, community, and connection as they start their new lives in Canberra.⁠

Ruth is a creative artist who brings ideas to life and Jess brings her experience in graphic design, organisation and business. ⁠
⁠
Together, the Allara Creative team facilitates the development of key life skills, employment opportunities and the empowerment of refugees.⁠
⁠
