Alice's Bookshop Bookshop Alice's Bookshop is a traditional, slow bookshop, established in 1986. Browsers, thinkers, readers, dreamers - all are welcome.

We invite you to experience the old-world atmosphere of our shop and to browse through our stock of around 17,000 books.

Empty shelves means we’ve got them to sell. They range from $25 to $150 and we’ve got about 50 of varying sizes (won’t be listing them individually) plus two tables (on wheels) plus a beautiful bespoke counter plus chairs, desks, etc (ladders not for sale). Everything must be gone by next Thursday! NO HOLDS! Please have a vehicle to collect when you come. Note that the tallest among the shelves is 2.65 metres. Most are shorter than this. So… quicksticks! DM (message) to book a time to come in. We’ll be at our Preston location 10am—12pm and 5pm—6pm daily, on these last, remaining days below.

Update: closing down sale was due to start this Saturday but due to another cold blah blah blah we’ll be changing that date till Saturday 12th. Good news though, it will run till Saturday 3rd December.

All hardcover books (including first editions and Folio Society) will be $10

All paperbacks will be $4.

Well, it’s been a fun time in our hidden-if-not-so-secret location in Preston but, in this instance, all good things must come to an end. Here for the remaining Saturday’s in October and November, after which we’ll be shutting up shop. Thanks to everyone who has come to visit these last few Covid years, and to all of our wonderful bibliophiles of “Alice” in Carlton North. Fear not, for we’ll be popping up around the Melbourne market scene early in the new year. Until then, thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏 Hopefully, you can come in a grab a book before we go—we’d love to see you. Best bookish wishes,
