Gyotaku & Feast brings together Japanese art, incredible local seafood and Gascoyne produce for one unforgettable evening.

Guided by regional artists Holly + Joe | The Store, you’ll discover the centuries-old Japanese art of Gyotaku – creating beautiful prints using real fish and make your very own piece to take home. 🎨🐟

And while you create… you’ll feast! 🍣🥟🍤

Enjoy a specially curated Japanese-inspired menu featuring local seafood and seasonal Gascoyne produce, including warming miso soup, handmade gyoza, crispy Shark Bay prawn katsu, sushi and tempura banana.

BIG THINGS IN… CARNARVON! 🍌🚀🛰️

When you’re road-tripping through WA, you’ve got to stop for the BIG things and Carnarvon has a few you won’t find anywhere else!

🍳 Humpty Dumpty – say hello to one of Carnarvon’s most recognisable characters while exploring the Fruit Loop Drive Trail.

🚀 The Rocket – look up! The 25-metre-high Mercury Redstone replica at the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum is hard to miss and celebrates Carnarvon’s incredible connection to the early space program.

🛰️ The OTC Dish – now this is BIG. The enormous 29.6-metre dish dominates the skyline and is part of Carnarvon’s fascinating space and communications story.

August is here, which means the Gascoyne Food Festival is almost here! 🌴🍴

Carnarvon is the home of the Gascoyne Food Festival, and this August the region comes alive with incredible food, local produce, culture and experiences you simply won’t find anywhere else.

At the heart of the Carnarvon program is the festival’s signature event, The Plantation Feast on Saturday 22 August, an unforgettable long-table dining experience set amongst the plantations that grow some of the region’s best produce.

Wildflower season has arrived in the Carnarvon region, and after recent rainfall the landscape is beginning to burst into colour. 🌼

From delicate white mulla mulla north of the Overlander Roadhouse to vibrant blooms along the Quobba coastline, Kennedy Range and beyond, now is the perfect time to slow down, explore and experience one of nature's greatest displays. Wildflower season runs from July through to September, with every drive revealing something new.

Gyotaku & Feast: Fish Printing Meets Japanese Cuisine
Friday, 28 August | Carnarvon

Proudly hosted by the Shire of Carnarvon, this intimate evening celebrates Japanese tradition through art, food and storytelling.

Guided by regional artists Hol and Joe from Holly + Joe | The Store , you’ll discover the centuries-old practice of Gyotaku – the Japanese art of fish printing. Originally used by fishers to record their catch, this unique technique transforms fresh fish into striking works of art. You’ll create your own keepsake while learning the history and craftsmanship behind this fascinating tradition.

Throughout the workshop, guests will enjoy a curated Japanese dining experience designed to complement the evening’s creative journey.

Some wildlife encounters stay with you forever.

Along the Coral Coast, you don’t have to travel far to experience those unforgettable “wow” moments.

Guests aboard Coral Bay Eco Tours recently had an incredible humpback whale encounter, with one curious whale gliding right alongside the boat, leaving everyone on board in absolute awe.

Humpback whale season is now in full swing. From Carnarvon, head to the Quobba coastline, find a spot overlooking the ocean and keep watch, you may be treated to the spectacular sight of these gentle giants as they migrate along the coast.
