NOW SELLING: Antique Swedish Gustavian grey painted grandfather clock with carved pine long case with original working 8 day movement. The tall case in typical provincial grey painted pine wood finish in the Gustavian late 18th-century manner. Ornately carved crown with gilt highlights over arched top glazed door to clock face. Two glazed side windows allow observation of the mechanism. The tall case with stepped molded sections. A long central door is accessed with a working key to original lock. Raised by elegantly carved and arched bracket feet. Original working mechanism. South Sweden 1795.

NOW SELLING: Antique 18th century style Sheraton desk secretaire bureau with glazed bookcase top with astragal glazing and adjustable shelves.
In the Georgian neoclassical manner with mahogany and satinwood inlaid moulding and original brass hardware.

The gorgeous glazed bookcase with inlaid arched pediment top. The fall front desk below that opens with a key is beautifully inlaid. Inside are various compartments and fitted drawers in English oak.
The desk sits above four drawers all edged in satinwood and with brass handles. raised on bracket feet.

The fold down writing surface is 74 cm off the ground with generous legroom clearance of 71cm below, ideal for armchairs!
When opened the writing surface measures W88cm x D55cm plus internal drawers depth 16cm.
There is a central door with lock and key.
Four generous drawers below with original locks and handles. All open smoothly as it should.
The whole cabinet raised on shaped bracket feet.

English 1880 in the Georgian manner of 1780

NOW SELLING: Antique Empire mahogany Bouillotte coffee table with brass gallery fitted with 2 drawers & 2 gilt edge leather top slides. Paris France 1920.
The top with antique Breccia Pernice marble surrounded with a pierced brass gallery edge. The drum shaped apron is raised on taper legs with brass sabot feet.
Each apron with inlaid brass moulding edges with 2 fitted drawers and 2 gilt edge tooled leather extension slides for candlestick or w**e glass support.
Original polished finish all round to stand in the centre of a room.
The marble top with only minor blemishes over 100 years of use.

France 1920 in the 1810 Empire manner of Emperor Napoleon I

Breccia Pernice is a rare and refined marble with distinctive texture and character of soft peach and pink rose colours. It comes from the northern Italian region of Monte Pastello in the province of Verona.
Its porous nature at times may require infills of scagliona prior to final polishing.

Bouillotte is an 18th century card game that continued to be popular thoughout the 19th century in France and the Americas.

NOW SELLING: Rare antique Georgian period secretaire bookcase drop front desk with fitted interior mid 18th century English. Two mirror front doors open with a steel key to reveal an adjustable pair of bookshelves. Two slide-out candle stands below the doors to reflect light makes work brighter. The fold down slope top desk reveals a central door flanked by two pilaster column front secret compartments and 4 fitted drawers with arcaded pigeon holes above. Well carved walnut chairs feature large and very comfortable seats with spring support. Carved solid walnut frames raised on turned fluted legs. In the 18th century French Louis XVI manner after George Jacob master cabinet maker to the king of France and Emperor Napoleon. Features vintage brocade upholstery seat and armrests consistent with age and use. Paris France 1860 in the 18th century Louis XVI manner.

NOW SELLING: Antique walnut desk chair attributed to the Duke of Augustenborg 1848.
The ornate flame walnut Biedermeier armchair with ebony inlay and carved back splat with drop in seat circa 1848.

Well french polished in good original finish and patina.
The gondola shaped back with book matched walnut with ebony trim.
Raised on turned front legs and out swept back legs.
These types of chairs were used in front of a desk as desk armchair or elbow chair. It allowed the chair to be located initimately to the desk as the armrests were set back in the frame.
The drop in seat can easily be covered in your favourite fabric , just wrap and pin from underneath.

There is an historic inscription to the inside front chair rail in beautiful copperplate script that translates to :

"This chair belonged to the DUKE of AUGUSTENBORG 1848".

If the inscription is accurate and, note that the armchair is indeed of that period and of Danish origin, it may have been the desk chair used by the Duke Christian August II (1798-1869) From Augustenburg castle on Als Island Soderborg, Southern Denmark....More details on my own website.....

NOW SELLING: Antique pair French Louis XVI armchairs in solid walnut in the manner of George Jacob, and of Napoleon III era circa 1870. The solid walnut frames are well carved and have recently been fully restored and french polished . The ornate carved wood enhanced by original brass ormolu mounts. Recent upholstery in sage green silk with piped edging all in superb condition. The fauteuil armchairs are in the manner of the famous cabinet maker George Jacob to King Louis XVI of France in the 18th century. These chairs would date from Napoleon III reign 1848-1870. NOW SELLING: Antique Regency style 3 tier whatnot table etagere or bedside table in flame mahogany and brass castors. The size of this late Georgian style wotnot did not exist in the early 19th century hence this bespoke made 20th century example by the famous company of Theodore Alexander is an ideal adaptions for modern lifestyles. The brass cup castors allow it to be easily moved around the room. Ideal as end table next to a sofa, bedside table or hall console. The etagere is in flame mahogany with turned supports and gorgeous patina french polished finish and in excellent condition. More details on my own website ....

NOW SELLING: Swedish antique side table with single drawer in satin birch walnut stained by Gemla Fabrikers A.B. Dio 1910. The lift top over a single drawer with compartments ideal for jewellery or cufflinks etc. The table has a label underneath from the oldest continuing furniture maker in Sweden, established in 1861 in Dio Smaland. Polished all round. This table is a good example of the superb quality of early 1900's Swedish furniture using local timbers and minimalist design influences such as Biedermeier and Karl Johan Empire that eventually developed into the Art Deco era.
