A small collection of books on Australian First Nations Arts and Culture, some beautiful new additions to add to our shop stock. Midawarr / Harvest is a personal favourite, showing the collaborative works of & Mulkun Wirrpanda, which was on display at the National Gallery a few years back. The original works are enormous and span a liminal space that is both earthy & ethereal. The book features centre fold outs of the largest work.

We are all in the dumps with Jack and Guy : two nursery rhymes with pictures

By Maurice Sendak, author, illustrator, 1993.

Among Sendak's most controversial works, others including the banned 'In the Night Kitchen' & his sensual illustrations of Melville.

This book deals with themes of homelessness, kidnapping, institutional abuse, and social inequity. It was created partly in response to the AIDs epidemic in the USA, and is replete with analogy, double meanings and social comment. In the second image here we see clear reference to a well known oligarch's tower.
