From its beginnings in the late 70’s in a small tin shed, Billman’s Foundry has steadily grown and enjoying a reputation for craftsmanship. We are proudly 100% Australian Made and Owned. Billman’s Foundry has contributed to streetscape upgrades in

Castlemaine, Bendigo, Ballarat, Maryborough, Daylesford, Tamworth and Mildura. Our cast iron light columns, seating, fencing, bollards and bronze fountains can be seen throughout streets and parks in these cities. Heritage restorations from Rushworth to Botany Bay also boast many fine examples of our work. Our projects include:

Federation Field of Bells project, casting more than 2000 handheld bells of 2 kilograms to bells of over 1000 kilograms in weight. Reproduction of Aluminium Gates for the Singapore Palace in Singapore. Peter Brock Memorial Sculpture (car only) in Bathurst for artist Julie Squires. Restoration of the Fountain in Victory Memorial Gardens, Wagga Wagga. Restoration of the Wills Street fountain in Daylesford. The remains of this fountain arrived looking like a pile of rubble. Always willing to accept a challenge, Billman’s highly skilled workforce produces quality castings in bronze, cast iron, aluminium and more recently some mild steels.

This veranda post started with an original and finished as an almost exact replica.

Every detail, every curve, every feature was carried through so it fits seamlessly back into place.

During pattern prep, we fixed the holes and cleaned up any imperfections from years of wear giving the new casting a stronger, cleaner finish while still staying true to the original.

As one of the few foundries in Australia still working directly from original pieces and making veranda post this is the kind of heritage work we’re proud to keep alive.

That’s what proper foundry work is about preserving the past, while making it last for the future.

The guys out in the factory did well this week in high 30° and 40° weather they still did 6t of castiron and 500kg of bronze and aluminium, two 700 kg fly wheels for a client and some pumps and of course our water fountains and campoven 🔥

A customer came to us after an impeller cast overseas failed during machining.

Investigation showed the internal core had floated during pouring, resulting in insufficient wall thickness.

The component was re-moulded using a vertical, drop-poured mould to positively locate the core and prevent movement during the pour. Cast in Australia by tradespeople with over 40 years of foundry experience, delivering consistent, machinable results.
