🔸 US CPI hit 3.8% in April, highest since May 2023. Rate cut hopes fully priced out, with markets now pricing a 30% chance of a hike by December. Short-term headwind for gold, which closed Friday at A$6,350–6,353.

🔸 Silver surged 6%+ in a single Monday session on the US-China tariff truce, with the gold-silver ratio compressing to 54.23 by Friday's close. Then silver fell 8.11% on Friday as the CPI print hit industrial demand expectations. Supply deficit, solar demand, and investment rotation are the structural drivers, but silver moves hard in both directions.

🔸 India doubled gold and silver import duties to 15%. Short-term demand pause, not a structural withdrawal. History confirms formal imports drop, smuggling rises, and demand returns. The appetite does not disappear.

Why is one sovereign worth around $1600 while the other sells for over $2200?
