A green & blue combo heading off to two little farm loving boys 🌾🚜

Blues & John Deere greens were the request and I couldn’t resist pairing them with this new green & blue gingham. How pretty is it!😍

Lawn tips & tricks 💚

Now is the perfect time to start giving your lawn some extra TLC coming into the warmer months ☀️

Our lawn is all couch, grown from seed that we bought in bulk from our local Nutrien. In November 2024 the lawn was top dressed with loam and levelled. This involved scalping the lawn right back to dirt, spreading fertiliser and then applying the loam. See the photos at the end of the carousel for a before & after.

For the past couple of weeks I’ve started dropping the blades on the push mower each week, gradually scalping the lawn. This helps remove some of the older growth and thatch and encourages fresh new growth heading into spring 🌱

- Fertilise. We recently spread urea over the lawn to give it a boost coming out of winter.
- Keep the edges neat & tidy, we use roundup.
- Mow regularly as growth picks up. I push mow all of our lawn 😊 Regular mowing throughout the warmer months helps encourage a thicker neater lawn.
- Apply Cellaprint (Acelepryn GR) on the lawn, a granular lawn insecticide every six months. This is to prevent lawn grubs.
- Stay on top of weeds. Use dicamba to keep clover and other broadleaf weeds under control.
- Aerate compacted areas particularly high traffic spots. This helps water, oxygen and nutrients get down into the soil and roots.
- Water, water, water! Deep consistent watering is so important, particularly once those hot dry days arrive.

Getting your lawn healthy, well fed and growing strongly through spring gives it a much better chance of handling our hot summers. It’s hard work and definitely doesn’t happen overnight but you’ve just got to be persistent and keep at it. It will pay off 😍

A whole lot of sewing & gardening happening around here the past couple of weeks 🌸🌾

Most mornings have started before the sun comes up sewing towels, with garden design work filling my days. Christmas towel orders have started rolling in already, which seems crazy to be saying in August!

We have two open garden days here at home in September so there’s been plenty happening outside too. Lots of jobs being ticked off the list!

A very busy time but I feel pretty lucky to spend my days doing things I enjoy 🥰 (minus the garden mulching, glad that one’s done)

Towel turnaround time is currently 2–3 weeks but if you need yours any sooner please pop a note at checkout. I also only have a couple of spots left for garden consults in October! 🌷

A very sweet towel for baby Primrose 🌸 With the brief of pinks & greens, I chose a mix of gingham, Liberty and floral fabrics to bring this pretty towel together. I absolutely love how it turned out 🌷

A little look back at the first half of 2026 ✨

One of the biggest highlights this year has been launching my garden consultations. It was something I’d thought about for a long time but putting myself out there was definitely outside my comfort zone. I’m still finding my rhythm, balancing the two sides of Home Soil and making the most of my work days between sewing, garden consults and everything happening behind the scenes. I’ve always wanted to build a life doing something I genuinely love and I can honestly say I’m doing exactly that 🥰

In between it all has been time with family, friends, weekends at home, open gardens, holidays, celebrations and all the little moments that make life so special.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Home Soil so far this year. I’m so grateful to have you here 🩷

Here’s to the next six months! 🌷

Some of my favourite towel creations from the first half of 2026 🩷✨

So many beautiful names, colours and fabric combinations have made their way through my sewing room this year.

Each towel is unique, one of a kind and made especially for the person receiving it. I’ve loved creating every single one of them. Thank you for trusting me to make something special for so many of you 🤍
