Expert Advice & Service
Celebrating 10 Years in Business Thank you for visiting my fan page.

My name is Candice Mason and Welcome to My Felt Lady. My store is an Australian Craft Store supplying 100% Merino Wool Felt and 100% Glitter Merino Wool Felt with all good country customer service from my home in Chinchilla Queensland Australia. My main and most popular product is 100% Merino Wool Felt. It is perfect for hobbyists and professional designers alike. The entire Merino Wool Felt Collection is manufactured in Europe, home of the highest quality wool felt factories. They use the finest Merino Wool Felt that lies closest to the skin of the sheep, thus, my felt is extremely soft and durable. It also has qualities that are unmatched by synthetic felt of wool felt blends. It cuts smoothly, does not fray at the edges, is pill, fuzz and stretch resistant and is evenly dense throughout. Thank you for visiting my store and always feel free to call me for a chat, I'm always up for a good felt yarn.

So deep and luscious, irresistible even. Crimson is definitely a Wool Felt colour you need in stash because it goes well with nearly the whole range.
Almost looks like the colour of the red rose I shared earlier this week.
Can't wait to pick flowers this spring and share some colour matches from my garden.
Going to be very pretty.

We've all been there... and thats SO ok!
Threads post creative inspiration can make you feel like the tidy up is goinf to take forever but, honestly, who cares if what you made is the best work of art. Mine are now much happier in their containers but this is a reminder, we are all human, give yourself a break.
Have a beautiful day you incredible people 💓💓💓

Moths, carpet beetles, weevils, and silverfish pose the biggest threat to Wool Felt. I use lavender and / or eucalyptus oils on wooden balls or beads in a container that has holes in the top - you might have to get the tools out to put holes in the container lid. Place this small container inside your bigger container of Wool Felt. Another thing we like to do is to go in and rough the felt up once or twice a week to reduce the risk of any pests making a nest in your beloved Wool Felt products. They don't like it when their home is destroyed and they will move on.

Hello my lovelies,

This month, My Felt Lady turns 12. 🥹

TWELVE YEARS.

Some days I still feel like I’m just a woman surrounded by enormous amounts of felt, making things up as I go along… but here we are.

Looking back over the past 12 months, so much has happened.

✨ One huge pinch-me moment: My Felt Lady wool felt was used in the making of the Netflix film Mosquito Bowl, including flags and insignia. Felt from my little studio in Chinchilla ended up on a movie set. 🤯

✨ You broke records with me too. Black Friday was enormous, then January sales were up 167% on the year before. After 12 years, you still manage to surprise me.

✨ We welcomed new colours, glitter and metallic felt, brought favourites back, created bundles and patterns, and spent far too much time staring at two almost-identical colours saying, “No… this one is definitely different.” 😂

✨ And then there was the usual small-business chaos: suppliers, freight, missing pickups, wet shipments, colours disappearing, Australia Post keeping me humble and Shopify occasionally testing whether I am spiritually evolved enough not to throw my computer through a window.

Spoiler: I am not. 😂

But my favourite part will always be you.

Seeing your flowers, toys, crowns, dolls, wreaths, ornaments and beautiful handmade creations still makes me ridiculously happy.

This year I also started to write the story of how My Felt Lady saved me. This little business has grown alongside my children, carried me through some of the hardest chapters of my life and given me a community I never imagined when I started.

There have been huge highs, frustrating lows, happy dances, swear words and approximately four billion pieces of felt.

And through all of it, you’ve been here.

Shopping with me, recommending me, sending photos, reading my ramblings and coming back year after year.

You are the reason My Felt Lady is still here 12 years later.

So here’s to 12 years of felt, creativity, chaos and this wonderfully colourful community we’ve built together.

And here’s to Year 13.

Preferably with fewer freight dramas. 😂

With felt love always,

Candice ❤️

To wash... or not to wash... that is the question.
Before I continue, why not tell me what you think???
Do you wash?
Now it is a question we get asked a lot, and I mean A LOT. So I will debunk some myths here and give you some suggestions.
First of all, Wool Felt is dyed before it's felted. So it goes through a process to secure the dying to be sure it reduces the product from fading or running in washes. Now this is by no means it won't run at all, any wool felts can run depending on the colour, especially reds. Some powders when washing can cause the dies to come out, so be sure to choose a wash and products that are a 'wool wash' to reduce this risk.
Using warm or hot water increases shrinkage and the thickness of the wool felt as well so please be sure to use cold water as well.
For drying, lay the felt on a towel in the shade and occasionally turn it, or tumble dry bigger pieces with air only, as hotter settings may lead to more shrinkage. Keep an eye on the felt's drying process, reshape as needed, and avoid stretching or distorting. We strongly recommend running a trial with a sample piece before committing to the process, as outcomes can differ.
Personally, I have never pre-washed felt before for any of my projects. I had a lovely chat with Wendy Williams on this subject and I found out she just throws her whole quilts in a tumble wash!
So in the end, be sure to test wash any of our felts, or for much better results, really find out how the end product is going to be used because most likely, you won't need to wash the felt at all.

It has been a very horrible few weeks. Being crook for so long is not nice, and even worse when the weight of the world is on your shoulders too.

Today though... I finally feel like I'm myself again. Still very lethargic, but my goodness I am so glad for it to be over. Thank you Laura, my beautiful best friend and staff member, you did an amazing job taking care of everything while I was down.

One thing that was disappointing was all my Christmas in July plans got pushed aside, but we can do Christmas sewing anytime so Yay for that!
I am proud to share that I'll be releasing another trio of Christmas Ornaments. Can't wait to share 😍

Happy Firday lovelies!
Love and bless always
