Ive been away from the rod building scene for a hoy minute, felt good to get back and finish a rod I've wanted to rebuild for myself for a while now.

This kilwell 4144 will be a dedicated drummer rod and ocean luderick stick.

Built with all the fuji goodies.

I have to thank David Gilmour for this beauty.

Dave was kind enough to swap me some time back after he had mentioned he had this sitting in his collection not really being used anymore.

Not a rod you see around a whole lot but definitely one you want in your inventory for chasing anything big- anywhere!

Hope I've done her justice mate 🙏

Last one to come out of the NCC stable before Chrissy hits.

This HHGT was built for chasing luderick off the break walls semi club style with added heat shrink for extra grip.

We went with all Fuji components

Was lucky enough to get my hands on a mint condition Snyder 144 8w blank a few months ago.

I set the build aside for a while until I had a reel to match.

Wanted to do it justice with same fancy bind work and nice colours. While I’m not 100% convinced on the colour I’m happy with the overall result.

Now I’ve got a handle on the bind work the next rod should be pretty smick 🤙

I've taken a bit of a break away from the lathe for a while but with the weather clearing up and the swell forecasted to drop I needed a beach setup knocked up pretty quick.

Kilwells version of the JAS felt like the right stick to suit what I needed it for

Didn't spend much time getting this perfect and had it knocked out in a few days.

Kilwell 'Mag bream' extended 🎣

Just finished a resto for one of the old school luderick fishos and one of my mentors up here on the Mid North Coast.

Was an honour to have the opportunity to restore life into this old rod.

All Fuji components used with original colour scheme and original guide recipe. New reel seat layout with heat shrink to give it a lighter overall weight and feel in hand.

Customer was wrapped with the end result 😊

David contacted me to see what I could conjur up after seeing a couple of my builds with the metallic blue,silver and blank combination.

We decided to stick with the black theme and sourced a discontinued black Fuji ns7 reel seat, discontinued black BSVOG guides from overseas.

A keen eye from davos painting days seen the colour scheme really match up well with the graphite shimmer in the 4144G.

Another dedicated da**ie stick with all fuji components

The lathe hasn't stopped turning with still a couple more to push out hopefully before the end of next week.

Thanks to Michael Turton for supplying the blank and Lee Nicholson for having a load tested guide recipe on hand 👌 proper legends.

If you're on the mid north coast I have a couple blanks left that I'll be setting aside for customers builds before all focus is on building some sticks for myself 🙏
