We would like to tell you that Don Mckay Farm Supplies will be closing its doors on 30th of June.
All of July the office will be open for any enquirys and payments Monday- Friday 10:00-2:00.
We sincerely thank all our loyal and valued customers over the years for your support and business.
….Don McKay Farm Supplies started as very humble beginnings. Starting in the World War 2 era. Something as simple as growing onions in Alvie and buying a truck to transport them to market and picking up supplies for other neighbors, has grown into what it has become today.
The shop and staff have lived through the highest of highs and lowest of lows of the agricultural industry.
Times of devastating drought, fires, floods. Crashes in the milk prices, dairy-farmer numbers diminish and even corona virus.
Our truck drivers have gone from loading box timber posts and potatoes by hand, to everything done by machine.
They have helped places in disaster, as the ground still smolders whilst unloading the hay.
And some drivers have single-handedly put 1 million kilometers worth of driving on their own truck.
We have seen huge advances in chemical, seed, fertilizer and transportation over this time, always improving.
And we have had 3 generations of family be apart of the business in some aspect along the way.
We wouldn’t be the company we are today without the wonderful staff we have had as apart of our team over the years and also the relationships we have built over this time, with some amazing people. Some of our employees have spent 40+ years with us-a lifetime! And have truly been the backbone of this company.
