Grief for Children
Normally dismissed as ‘oh they are young’ or ‘they won’t really remember’
Living through this with young kids at the time 4,2 & 1 and still young I can definitely confirm regardless of their age grief affects them just like us adults. The funny concept is one minute they are talking or crying about missing their loved one the next they are picking their nose or off playing with a snail….
The thing I learnt when Cookie first passed was being honest and open with them. For us Daddy died and went to heaven. Age appropriately trying to explain to them can be hard and that’s where I wanted others to have hopefully a helpful place they can come to source the books that have so far helped our children through grief and the death of their daddy at such young ages.
