🌿 WELL THIS BLEW MY MIND! 🤯
You know us here at Kacoki Acres — if there’s an old-fashioned, natural remedy floating around, I’m going to want to know about it! 😂🌿
I recently stumbled across navel oiling, also known as Nabhi therapy, and I’d honestly never given our belly buttons this much thought!
Before birth, our belly button is where the umbilical cord connects baby to the placenta, delivering oxygen and nutrients. Pretty incredible when you stop and think about it. ❤️
For generations, some traditional wellness practices have applied oils to the navel and surrounding skin, believing different oils may help with different complaints.
🌿 Castor oil – traditionally used for joint and knee discomfort and constipation
🥥 Coconut or olive oil – used for dry skin and traditionally associated with reproductive wellness
🌰 Almond oil – used for skin hydration and that healthy “glow”
🌿 Neem oil – traditionally used for acne and problem skin
🌻 Mustard oil – used for dry skin and lips, joint discomfort and digestive complaints
🌾 Sesame oil – traditionally used in massage for aching joints and muscles
🌿 Ginger oil – traditionally used for nausea, bloating and digestive discomfort
🌿 Thyme oil – traditionally associated with respiratory health and used for coughs and congestion.
Some traditional remedies even involve placing oil around the navel and gently massaging the tummy for digestive discomfort or cramps.
Now here's the important bit! 👇
There are LOTS of claims online that navel oiling can treat everything from poor eyesight and cracked heels to fertility problems, digestive issues, inflammation and joint pain. These claims haven't been proven by modern medical research, so I wouldn't be throwing away the medicine cabinet just yet. 😂
And please be careful with essential oils — never assume natural means safe. Many need to be properly diluted before touching your skin, and some aren't suitable for children, pregnancy or certain health conditions.
Still, I absolutely LOVE learning how plants and natural remedies have traditionally been used through the generations. 🌿
Some work, some probably don't, and some deserve a little more investigating!
Have you ever tried navel oiling? And more importantly… did it actually work for you? 👇
