🌸 Flower Food Test – Day 5! 🌸

Well, it's been 5 days and I've let the flowers do their thing.

I checked them this morning and the results are pretty interesting! The worst performers so far have been: ❌ Chrysal flower food
❌ Water + sugar + vinegar
❌ Water + bleach

The best-looking flowers are actually sitting in: βœ… Plain tap water
βœ… Tap water + sugar

The water itself has been interesting to watch too. The cloudiest water was in the sugar water and bleach jars, while the Chrysal and vinegar water stayed quite clean.

Now, Gerberas aren't the easiest flowers to test. They have hairy stems and water can travel up the stem, which can speed up the ageing process. So I'm not ready to call this experiment a winner just yet!

Next week I'm going to do it all again with a different type of flower and see what happens.

It's definitely proving that flower care isn't always as straightforward as we think! 🌷

Keep an eye out for round two. I'm curious to see if the next flowers tell a different story. πŸ‘€

Slow days aren't always a bad thing. They're a chance to recharge, reflect, and finally make time for those product photos that often get pushed aside.

Today I am playing with our beautiful new pots, which we're a little bit in love with! Filled with our real-touch faux flowers, they bring all the beauty of fresh blooms without the maintenance.

Do you have a lovely pot, vase, or urn at home that you're not quite sure what to do with? Perhaps you have a holiday home that could use a little cheer and colour? I would love to help.

Together we can select the perfect blooms and foliage to suit your style and space, creating a custom arrangement that you'll enjoy for years to come.

Yes, it's an investment, but unlike fresh flowers, these beauties are yours to enjoy forever.

🌸 Flower Food Test Time! 🌸

There are so many flower food tips and tricks floating around these days, and as a florist I'm always curious to see what actually works.

Over the coming days, I'll be putting 5 different flower food options to the test to see which one helps fresh flowers last the longest.

🌷 Commercial flower food
🌷 Plain water
🌷 Sugar water
🌷 Sugar & vinegar mix
🌷 Bleach & water mix

I'll be keeping an eye on vase life, water quality, stem health and overall flower appearance, and I'll share the results with you along the way.

Will the florist-approved flower food come out on top, or will one of the home remedies surprise us all? πŸ‘€

Drop your guess in the comments and let me know if you have a flower care trick that you've sworn by over the years!

πŸ’ Follow along as we put these flower food myths and methods to the test. Science, flowers and a little bit of florist curiosity, what could go wrong? 🌸πŸ§ͺ✨

Location of flowers :
- in living room
- no heating during the day, from 4pm only
- no direct sunlight, heat source or fruit nearby.

Let see what happens to my Gerberas!😊

🌿 Did you know that different cut flowers require different water levels to maximise their vase life?

This is just a simple example showing that not all flowers like to sit in the same amount of water. Some thrive in a vase filled generously, while others prefer only a shallow drink.

To help your flowers stay fresh for as long as possible:

βœ‚οΈ Always give your stems a fresh cut when you receive or purchase them (I'll explain why this is important in my next post!)
πŸƒ Remove any leaves that would sit below the water line.
πŸ’§ Refresh the water every 2–3 days.
🏑 Keep your flowers away from direct sunlight, heaters, and fruit bowls where possible.

Flower care is not a one-size-fits-all approach, and there are plenty of little tricks that can make a big difference to vase life. I'll be diving deeper into flower maintenance and care tips in upcoming posts, so stay tuned! 🌸✨

🌿🌷 Flowers are a fresh product, and getting the most out of them takes knowledge and care.

These days, you can buy flowers almost anywhere.
From cafΓ©s and retail stores to petrol stations, farm gates and supermarkets, flowers are more accessible than ever. They are often added to businesses for aesthetics or as a quick extra income during significant occasions throughout the year.

As a qualified florist, I don't just sell you a bunch of flowers. Every bunch of flowers I offer is hand-selected with care, personally picked up, conditioned, and prepared to ensure the best quality and longevity.

I make sure you walk out the door with the advice, tips and care instructions to help your blooms look their best and last as long as possible at home.

From the correct water levels and stem care to placement and maintenance, there's often more to flowers than meets the eye.

This is just one of the many reasons I encourage people to support their local florist and small businesses with expertise.

Behind every bouquet is years of training, hands-on experience and a genuine passion for the product.

I am here to help you get the very best value and enjoyment from the fresh flowers you're purchasing no matter what your budget is.

It's all part of the extra care, knowledge, and attention that comes with buying from a qualified florist.

Fresh feels😍

Did you know I sell plants?

Not just any plants... I'm talking quirky, interesting, conversation-starting plants with plenty of personality. 🌿

And if a plant feels a little too green, don't worry, I've got colourful pots, funky stakes, and fun hangers ready to give it that extra spark. Around here, we don't do boring. We like bright, playful, and a little bit different.

Whether you're looking for a new leafy friend, a unique gift idea, or just want to chat all things plants, ( or flowers) pop in and say hello. I'm always happy to share advice, plant tips, and help you find the perfect match.

And if you're lucky... you might even spot the Golden Poodle keeping an eye on things. ✨🐩🌿
