This is what our Pheasent parfait looks like before it’s smothered on Naomi’s toasted caraway rye for our Coloured of Spring gathering September 19th. These livers come from birds who have feasted on home grown leafy green goodness with an undisclosed amount of lupins soaked in local wine.

Imgredients in order of steps…spelt pastry, sililverbeet then roast pumpkin to be topped with ricotta & finished with braised broccoli leaves. Sealed up by a gentle stretching of the overhang and a rich glazing of KI egg yolk. Going into the oven as we speak.

We can rarely celebrate a coming together of our favourites without our French guests of honour. One of the considered indulgences we bring in from across the passage, the inclusion of Brillat-Savarin is a must. The fun part for me is the opening of the box and the sigh as I stare in. It’s been a while so I’m very excited to be ordering this today.

The Colour of Spring is a 1986 masterpiece album release from Talk Talk that 40 years later (wow that’s sobering) still hits emotionally. It feels fitting to honor the new season this September 19th with the same title. From 2-6pm we invite you for an afternoon of food and music to celebrate Spring at our favourite regional airport.

How good do we have it living here on

Todd, Marissa and Team welcomed Kane Pollard into their fold to put on another stellar gathering of everything that makes community crank. How wonderful was that menu! How fabulous was that crowd! How good is island produce and how great are those oysters etc etc etc

Thank you Kane, Adele & crew for making it all shine so brilliantly. We honestly can’t single out one dish.

So awesome seeing so many small businesses out supporting each other. I love this island.

What’s first up on the menu for our Spring gathering September 19th?

Our Seafood Magnum nails every box for me when it comes to crunch, texture, flavour and fun so this is an obvious inclusion.

Our Colour of Spring gathering will kick off at 2pm on Saturday September 19th. We are offering a $50 set menu of favourites plus a few surprises for you to enjoy over an afternoon of coming together and catching up.

Spring has arrived to kick us out of the shadows, back into social world and say “hey, there’s been a few changes, we hope you like”.
1. Our Roo glasses are now norm be it vino or chilled sparkling
2. We’ve moved things around to create a more intimate space with a table reserved for locals during peak times
3. New local goodies to unwrap
4. Stacks of our signature items for locals to grab at local prices
5. New wines to try in our favourite glasses
6. Longer shadows thanks to longer days

We are open every morning at 8am to 11am except Sunday and every Monday and Friday 3pm to 6pm

We will be opening for business mid July which is later than we anticipated. This morning was the plan. If you’ve been waiting for us please know we have been waiting for you too. We can’t thank you enough for being in our corner and promise once we give the last of our hugs out we’ll head straight back home sans baby goat 🧡.
